Hello, new people. I'm pleased that people are coming back to Dreamwidth and I hope it's an ongoing trend.

I have been in this type of fandom since 2001; I was around at the tail-end of Usenet and mailing lists, just before we all moved to LiveJournal. I moved to Dreamwidth with everyone else back in 2010 or so (or whenever Strikethrough was!) and I have not really -- gone anywhere else. (Ye gods. How you know how old I am - I find it momentarily jarring when people call it their Dreamwidth "feed" and not their flist.) I have a Twitter, which I do use, and a Tumblr, which I don't; the form of interaction never worked for me very well because I'm really verbose and I like comments. I also found it quite disturbing that I had been very young for Usenet and LJ fandom, and then suddenly I was very old for Tumblr fandom - somehow I never got a fandom adulthood? (But I'm still into things. Star Trek and Doctor Who (again just recently) and the Vorkosigan series and long ago, M*A*S*H, and really, a lot of other things.)

Anyway! Pleased to meet you. If you have heard of me before, it's probably is because I have written a whole shitload of fanfic over a period of seventeen years. (Most, but not all, is on the AO3.)

About me otherwise: I'm a thirtysomething lawyer and civil servant (and because of the job, a portion of what I write here is locked; I don't mind people reading it if they want to and you should feel free to ask, but I don't like to have it in public). I like languages. I'm a pro writer under another name. I'm brown and nonbinary. I don't really know what else you'd need to know about me! Hi.

Hello friends. This is either my last or second-to last crossposted-to-LJ entry, I think. There are a lot of you I'd be reluctant to lose touch with so I'm not going to delete straight off, but it does seem that after 16 years it has become untenable. I am here as I always am and I've tried to gather up as many people I'm aware of as having recently moved to Dreamwidth. If you haven't been here before and I might not recognise your username, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know - thanks much.

(Other news: am in Christchurch (the one in New Zealand!), having had a very pleasant time in Sydney and Wagga Wagga, which is underrated. Coffee good, wine awesome, driving down to Mount Cook tomorrow.)

Hello new friends who have arrived with the friending meme! Hello. Lovely to meet you and I am enjoying all your posts. I wish to make a post of my own introducing myself only, ah, stuff. Urgh. Stuff. In brief: I am a writer, long-term fangirl, twentysomething lawyer, my partner and I live in a flat in the south of England that increasingly resembles the All-You-Can-Eat Junkshop of Babel (anyone want a hatstand? a hideous green coffee table? Butterworth's Company Law Handbook 2009? no? you shock me) and I'm having a Major Career Crisis and a Great House Refurbishment at the same time. It's charming. I'm charming. Really.

December will be better and indeed all things beautiful. If you want to ask me to talk about a thing you still can!

From [profile] abyssinia4077:

People who live in/know people in the Bay area - I've got a good friend about to end up temporarily homeless because her current lease is up today and every other lead she had died. She has a job near downtown and works a variety of shifts, so needs to live within 2-ish miles of Market and Van Ness so she can get to work. She has a very sweet dog who goes to work with her and needs something not too expensive that allows large dogs. If anyone has any possible leads on a place, I know she'd appreciate it a lot, and I'd certainly appreciate not worrying about her too. She's quiet and clean and dependable and the housing market is ridiculous. Please let me know if you know of anything I could pass on - either longterm or somewhere she can stay until she finds a place. Thanks!

I can further vouch for our friend - she's one of the best people you could ever meet. If anyone's got anything, I'd really appreciate it.

raven is also at Dreamwidth: there is or are comment count unavailable comment(s). Comment there or here.

I just drove 200 miles without a break, I am sleeeeepy.

Anyway. LJ's latest seems to mean that more people have begun using Dreamwidth. Which means people subscribe to me/give me access, and I think, oh, I should reciprocate.... and then forget.

Hence the following. Also, re: tumblr - I've finally joined the 21st century. My tumblr is [tumblr.com profile] singlecrow, but currently has no content. If y'all let me know yours, I'd appreciate it.

I just discovered Instagram, which has reminded me: every so often I start using Twitter. Now is one of those times. I'm @singlecrow - let me know who you are! Also, rec fun/interesting people to follow?

(Also @singlecrow on instagram - it appeals to my inner teenager.)

I was [livejournal.com profile] loneraven on LiveJournal, and I have just (April 2017) stopped crossposting there.

Here are some things that I don't exactly assume you know about me, but might be useful/interesting; and here are my stories at the Archive of Our Own. I am entirely okay with people podficcing, translating, continuing, or otherwise-transforming my stories, but I'd love to see the end result if that's what you're doing, and please credit me as an original author.

Really, I'm pretty easy-going.

If I get this right, then hopefully this will crosspost to LJ as well as Dreamwidth. ([personal profile] forthwritten has been talking me through it all morning.) Fingers crossed. Anyway, on that note, I have made all the changes I'm going to make - you can comment on my DW or my LJ, I honestly don't mind either way. I think I have given access on DW to everyone who can read my flocked posts on LJ - if this isn't the case just let me know. Ditto if you have a DW user account that I've somehow missed.

That is all, please talk amongst yourselves in the comments. Imagine there is a sideboard with mimosas and cheese and pineapple on sticks, and those little brie-cranberry parcels I like.

edited to add and edit crossposting works too, hurrah.

O hai, post-Oxford waves of crushing doom and despair. I thought this wouldn't happen, this time around, but alas I was WRONG.

Anyway. This poll is for my information only, pretty much, as while I am going to be making some changes round here it's not going to affect how I interact with any of you, or at least not very much - if you have access to what I write (which is, let's face it, pretty much the whole world ninety-nine percent of the time) you'll still have it, if I currently comment on your LJ I still will do so, and if I currently comment on your Dreamwidth, I probably will carry on doing that.

I should mention, though, that on Dreamwidth I am raven. If you do use DW I'd be obliged if you answered below, though obv no pressure or anything.

Yay! [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck, [livejournal.com profile] emerald_embers, [livejournal.com profile] pinkfinity! Thank you for the snowflake cookies! Today is grey and hideous and miserable and has featured a lot of road traffic law (don't ask) so it is much appreciated. Still. Ten more days of term, then I will be in London and then I will be in Edinburgh and then I will be in Liverpool, and they are all grey and hideous too but at least I'll be there with people I love.

(Not that I'm not here in Oxford with people I love. I think this is a sign I should stop complaining.)

Anyway! A while ago I had my phone stolen. It sucked. The phone company replaced it, which sucked less. But of course I lost all my numbers, annoyingly. Might I ask, therefore, the usual favour? If I had your number before, might I have it again? And if I didn't but you think I ought to have done, please help me put that right. All comments are screened, of course.

(My number is the same as it was, thankfully; I do appreciate everyone who left abuse for the thief, by the way.)

I'm [livejournal.com profile] loneraven on Dreamwidth, predictably. If you're over there too and would like me to know that, please do say!

(Note: I haven't yet decided what I'm going to do with my account. I'm definitely not leaving LJ unless it's absolutely necessary. I may crosspost to both, I may crosspost only my public entries, or only my fic... we shall see. I'm in the sandbox to play.)
