raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (e&e - grief)

O hai, post-Oxford waves of crushing doom and despair. I thought this wouldn't happen, this time around, but alas I was WRONG.

Anyway. This poll is for my information only, pretty much, as while I am going to be making some changes round here it's not going to affect how I interact with any of you, or at least not very much - if you have access to what I write (which is, let's face it, pretty much the whole world ninety-nine percent of the time) you'll still have it, if I currently comment on your LJ I still will do so, and if I currently comment on your Dreamwidth, I probably will carry on doing that.

I should mention, though, that on Dreamwidth I am raven. If you do use DW I'd be obliged if you answered below, though obv no pressure or anything.

I no longer post to LJ, which means it's been spared my acquisition of a new fandom. Perhaps that's a blessing for it.

Oh, please please don't switch to doing that thing where people can only comment at DW! It is my Worst Thing about online journal sites - I know that it has got to be Everyone's Own Choice and that it's Not Up To Me, but it infuriates me every time. (Partly because I just do not like the way DW displays comments and emails the responses, which I realise is mere personal preference... Oh help, I am essentially an awful person. Um.
...I won't hate you if you decide to abandon lj, I promise! *faaaails so much at online trends*)

Every so often I export all my LJ to DW so they match, but thusfar have not switched over to posting on DW hand having it show up on LJ automatically. I don't have a good reason for this, but there it is.

I post to DW and do a link roundup to my DW posts on LJ.

Sometimes, I think about moving to DW, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. But then, I don't really update LJ, so... does it make much difference? I'm fail at journals anyway.

You could, my dear! I like DW, it's a sensible project run by decent people. At the same time I have done perfectly well without using my account for eighteen months, so. It is entirely a matter of preference.

I've only had my DW account a couple days and haven't done anything with it yet. Joined so I could read scans_daily.

I basically post everything to LJ, and post recipes to DW (but also LJ). I kind of want DW to be a place where I'm less whiny, which I guess is just me trying to pretend that I can be less whiny and more interesting. Um. I don't use DW much, basically, but also it seemed like everyone might leave LJ and go to DW, so I thought I had better grab my name before someone else did. I'm very attached to Tau Sigma.

(Also, *hugs*)

I have a DW account but I never use it. I planned on using it and crossposted all my lj entries over to there but then I never went back. Mostly because everyone who I friended on DW also have an LJ and it's just easier to read everything in the same place. As long as people keep on posting to LJ I'll probably stay here. (And this is apestaartje btw, in case you missed that I changed my lj name)

Just popping up to say: hi, I got so much music from you back in the day, so thank you for sharing so generously!

Also, I'm amazed that the name [livejournal.com profile] sarah was available...

That's nice of you to mention that. Sometimes I think I'll go back to uploading it all again but it was just too much work.

And [livejournal.com profile] sarah had been a suspended account since about 2004 so when LJ announced they were purging suspended accounts I set a notification up so I'd know when it happened.

I only post on LJ currently, but am still hoping to move all my content to DW and start using that as my primary journal (with cross-posting of everything to LJ)...whenever I have the brain for it.

I got one because everyone else did. When people only have Dreamwidth comments/cuts I generally don't bother to read them. I hate Dreamwidth with a fiery passion.

I have good intentions of backing up all my LJ posts on DW, and crossposting there, but I also have good intentions to exercise regularly and get to bed before midnight and make the world a better place. So, you know, don't hold your breath ;-)

Right now, I cross post (and I read DW before I read LJ). Just as soon as I can trivially read LJ posts on DW, I'll certainly stop reading LJ and may stop crossposting or commenting on LJ.

I've only just set up my DW account today, so currently use it for nothing; the plan is to just use it for comments, but I might end up crossposting my LJ entries as well.

If LJ ever goes under I'll mosey there properly but for now I just use it for commenting (especially on Porn Battle!).

I got an account at DW with the intention of switching, but I couldn't get its reading filters to work for me and eventually gave up. I cross-post for the benefit of friends who are only there and as an easy way of backing up my LJ, and I read people there if they have different content than on LJ, but LJ is my main online home and will probably continue to be so indefinitely.

I played around with Dreamwidth for a little, but missed having all my icons available, and it was a chore having to check both LJ and DW to read what (for many friends) was just crossposted identical content. So now I only keep it for backup in case LJ is down or something.

I post some content (like fic) to both LJ and DW, but not all content gets crossposted.

I set up a DW account long and long ago just to make sure I had my name reserved (and so I could friend any LJ friends who mentioned having DW accounts, so I'd already have contacts over there if I found myself suddenly using the account due to another round of extreme LJ fail). And then one or two people I was following or wanted to follow went DW-only, so I made use of the feature to let myself be e-mailed notifications of their posts so I could go read them individually. At some point I went ahead and imported my LJ content to DW and started cross-posting, but I still don't actually read my friends list on DW because the vast majority of my reading list are on LJ and not themselves cross-posting. (Though I haven't really gone and checked my default view against DW to see how many are cross-posting, or are RSS feeds I could get on DW just as easily as on LJ. I suspect the longer I wait before I cull my LJ Default View and start reading my DW reading list, the more people will be posting on DW.)

I am mainly DW-based; most things are cross-posted, but not all.
