May. 14th, 2013 08:43 pmLife, currently utterly unmitigated awful; then something happened this evening that tipped it over from "awful, awful, godawful" to "awful; also a sitcom about it would be a viable prospect".
So, that's something.
Yesterday some of you gave me some fic prompts and I wrote a few of them:
-The Middleman, accidental-baby-acquisition;
-Deep Space Nine, Garak and Bashir, truth or dare;
-Call The Midwife, also truth or dare;
-Cabin Pressure, pretending to be married.
edited to add: another Cabin Pressure, forced to share a bed.
Anyone else for anything else? Give me a fandom and prompt if you would like a snippet; I don't promise to write every single one, but I will try.

on 2013-05-14 09:31 pm (UTC)Um, Slings and Arrows, Anna, something that made Anna happy.
SG1, Sam, aliens DON'T make them have sex.

on 2013-05-14 10:05 pm (UTC)X-men, historical AU - something about the School for Gifted Youngsters and how it might have existed?
Rivers of London, Nightingale, genderswap
Give me something utterly ridiculous involving BBC Sherlock? Maybe involving a bakery?

<3333 (I haven't written these two in literally ten years and more)
on 2013-05-14 11:09 pm (UTC)They came home from PX-77338 the night before. It was a beautiful world bathed in jewelled twilight; in that warm, sweet-scented air, Sam had thought of more than technology, trade and new civilisations.
Daniel puts his pen down and looks up at her without surprise, without - and right then at that moment, and years afterwards, this will hearten her when nothing else does - doubt. "Sure, if I can."
He listens to her talk, waving her hands; when she's done he nods and says, simply, "You're right." And then, "You've spoken to Dr. Frasier, of course?"
"Of course," Sam says. "But I need your help, too."
Surprisingly, he laughs; it's not something she hears very often. "I don't usually find people need me for anything that isn't cuneiform."
Immediately prior to mission number forty-six, the MALP reported a planet of rolling pampas covered in blue vegetation but didn't, over its tinny little feed, evoke the sheer intensity of the colour. Even the stems are blue. Daniel has one stuck in his hat like a talisman. When they stop for local night and crack open their packs, it drops out and Sam catches it, handing it back to him with grave concern. Daniel chuckles and sticks it back in. They're pulling out rations and water bottles when Colonel O'Neill says, suddenly, "What's this?"
Teal'c looks over his shoulder. "I believe it is a prophylactic, O'Neill. In a package," he adds helpfully. "You put it on..."
"Yeah," O'Neill says, "I got that, thank you. Why is this..." He breaks off and shakes the box. As well as the condom, there are pills in small sterile packets, and other first-aid supplies.
"I guess it's standard issue now," Sam says, neutrally. "I mean, we've had a couple of adventures when they might have been helpful. I guess, you can never be too careful."
"And aliens aren't always involved," Daniel says, equally neutral. "Though an alien instructing you on condom usage, Jack, that's pretty cute."
Daniel catches Sam's eye, just for a moment, and they both grin.
"He displayed confusion," Teal'c rumbles, and Sam is beginning to suspect him of a sense of humour. Silently, she hands Daniel another blue stalk - thank you - and with quiet reverence, he puts in his hat. The air is scented with blossom, the promise of another world; above them, new stars are coming out.

on 2013-05-14 09:32 pm (UTC)Is imagining it as a sitcom any consolation?

on 2013-05-16 03:32 pm (UTC)Second, I didn't know you liked Call the Midwife! I love that show! I can't believe I love a show about midwives (and babies), but I do, I really do.
Third, Oh, I loved the CB, pretending to be married one SO MUCH. You say so much with so few words.
Fourth, I'm finally home! But part of me wishes I were still there.
Take care, hold on, you have a lot of people rooting for you, including me. Thank you again for a lovely afternoon in beautiful rainy London. I will be thinking of you.
