on 2009-01-03 06:09 pm (UTC)I think he looks like he ought to have been in Twilight or something. He looks like he might turn the Dr gothic or even potentially an angsting emo. Which I can't see as being that great. He's too young for my liking.

on 2009-01-03 06:22 pm (UTC)He does have an older soul type thing going on. Plus as someone over at Torch_wood pointed out, can you imagine Captain Jack's reaction to a jailbaity Doctor? That alone might be worth it!

on 2009-01-03 06:24 pm (UTC)(You must admit, it'll be funny. Also, as my friend is also pointing out it'll be a VERY interesting dynamic if they bring the Master back again..)

on 2009-01-04 12:10 am (UTC)But now it seems it's like the US presidential election, only with McCain winning.
(I know nothing about the actor, of course. He could be perfectly good. Just....)

on 2009-01-04 07:36 am (UTC)but just the same, I didn't expect to like Ten back when Nine left. So. I'm not giving up hope yet. Anyway, now that I'm working my through Old Skool )and my all time favourite Doctor turns out to be from the old series) I seem to take NuWho a lot less seriously for some reason.
(My second thought was that maybe they wanted a young guy who they could keep in the part for the next decade or something so they can stop blowing through regenerations so fast. they can't last another 26 years if they run out of Doctors.)

on 2009-01-04 09:25 pm (UTC)The BBC seem to have quietly dropped the thirteen-regen limit. It's possible they never thought they would come up against it...

on 2009-01-05 08:58 am (UTC)He definitely seems young, and I wasn't terribly impressed by the Confidential interview, but I think until I see him in action as The Doctor, there's no real way to know how good (or bad) he'll actually be.
