Prelims results

My prelims results came through. They came through. I passed. Oh my god, I passed. More than that, I got firsts for philosophy and politics. I can't believe it. Bob said he thought I wasn't capable of getting a distinction in philosophy - and he's emailed me to congratulate me. I was really touched.

Oh, yes, economics - six marks off a fail. Six. But I don't really care, apart from that fact I didn't get a distinction overall, which is a shame, but really, never mind. I'm trying not to mind. No, I don't mind. I shall never do economics again. I don't have to resit this paper and so from now it ceases to matter.

Oh my god. I passed and I did okay.

(In other news, I'm a bit of a wreck. Actually a lot of a wreck. I've been sleeping very badly, labouring through constant headaches and spending my days either insomniac or comatose. But more on that anon, because right now I'm feeling pretty good.)

Firsts all the way, although the Philosophy was only just. He did actually put the work in, if only because he wanted to do all kinds of cool stuff over the summer with Richard.

That's the problem with being the sidekick to a hero who's also an academic. You can't just stroll it and get a 2.1, then expect him to take you on adventures over the summer.

Are undergrad marks calculated on the same scale as Masters - i.e., 60 = pass and 70 = distinction / first? The ways of Oxford undergraduatiana are still quite foreign to me!

Oh, congratulations! On the results, not the headaches, obviously. Well done on not failing economics-- I know you would have liked to do better, but honestly, passing at all is worthy of admiration.

Look after yourself. Your dad mentioned you had a headache on Sunday night, and "constant" is not a good way to have them (is there a good way to have headaches? Probably not). ((hugs)) (Plural because some are 'be well' and some are 'congratulations'.)

I was just thinking on the train home this evening, "I wonder how loneraven did in her exams?" so I have trawled through your past entries to find this - AWESOME! I am so pleased for you. If you are escaping economics what will you be doing next year???
