Three things!
Apr. 2nd, 2006 10:27 pm1. We won the boatrace omgyay! Yay dark blues.
2. The Party O'Doom is over, and thank all the gods out there for that. It went off fairly well, without too many disasters - I put gin in my lemonade, which may have helped - and no kids threw up, the dog didn't scare anyone to death and there wasn't too much singing. For some reason part of the stair bannister is missing, though; Mani helpfully put the pieces in her brother's bed. I am simply bemused as to how he didn't notice he was sleeping on top of a four-foot wooden pillar. Anyway. The best part of the weekend was going to the beach in the middle of the afternoon, watching the dog haring up and down the dunes, and wandering in and out of the water. It was icy cold, muddy and blissful. Still, I'm so glad it's all over.
3. And I can finally reveal to the world: I wrote Still Flying, Still Breathing (the Pennyroyal Tea remix), which remixed The Past and Pending by
cherryice. It's a lot like the original, which is a lovely story about Zoe, Mal and the absence of Wash. Thank you, everyone who feedbacked it. I was very flattered, and I must say that I don't deserve the praise; I wrote that story all in one go twenty-four hours before the deadline, and if it hadn't been for
amchau it probably wouldn't have been written at all. Still! I'm pleased I got it done, and that people liked it.

thistlerose wrote the remix for me, Don't Shoot The Messenger (the strangers in the night remix) and as I know of her as mainly a Sirius/Remus writer, I can honestly say I'd never have guessed. Thank you very much.
Now, I leave you all in favour of watching Prisoner of Azkaban again. It is joy, and I'm having fun Sir Cadogan-spotting. Tomorrow, Keynes and Friedman! urgh.

on 2006-04-02 10:36 pm (UTC)In any case, what beautiful, beautiful work. I've never done Remix because I'm so afraid of stepping on people's toes (and, this year, because I am blocked solid), but I loved reading it this year and kind of discovering new crevices of other people's writing. I just got finished reading

on 2006-04-02 11:09 pm (UTC)Blah blah ramble yes. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story! I shall try and persuade you for next year, because it's such fun. *g* And if it didn't come through in the general enthusiasm, it is SO GOOD to hear from you! I know you've likely been v.busy with family matters, but still, it's terribly quiet without you.

on 2006-04-02 11:22 pm (UTC)Assuming I can EVER WRITE AGAIN (blah blah blah generalized woe), I probably wouldn't need much persuasion for next year.
In my defense, I have been LJing on and off... only then I end up privatizing what I write within an hour's time, so I suppose that's no defense. Hopefully I will be up to coming back soon. It's terribly quiet in my head without you all.

on 2006-04-03 12:31 am (UTC)It was wonderful rediscovering your stories. I really liked your genfic about Xander and I spent a while trying to figure out how to remix it. I loved your Firefly story. :)
