So, [livejournal.com profile] amchau said I should start watching Buffy.

And, um, Giles is Aziraphale.

That is all.

And with that sentence alone, a thousand crossover plotbunnies crowded into my head.... ;)

Hee! Fear my evil influence.

But he so is. The blinky thing. Saying "um" a lot. Aziraphale!

Maybe it's just because of the years spent watching said programme, but I'm disturbed. It's Giles! You can't just turn up with your slash and your vague knowledge of Buffy verse and try to tear him away from the spectacles! Besides, he would never go over to the dark side. He belongs to Jenny Calendar.
*dreams of Giles*

I like Giles. I have always liked Giles. And I fail to see the connection to slash, spectacles or anything else in the above comment! Just a rather distinct similarity between a British librarian and a British bookshop owner.

Tonight was the episode with the hyenas, wasn't it?

Giles is not Aziraphale. Although, by that logic, possibly Ripper!Giles is Crowley? Alternatively, Ethan Rayne could be his Crowley...

No! Stop it! Bad Hathor! Giles is Giles and that is all!

(Lookit! Remus icon!)

Now just picture Spike as Crowley, carry over the GO slash, and you're in the place I'm in.

Actually, no, he's not Aziraphale-- not an angel, got a dark side, all that-- and such a mistake should not be allowed to stand. But I'm glad you're watching Buffy, anyway.

Eee for Remus icon! Am using my own one so it matches.

Giles is indeed Giles, and I think he may possibly be my favourite character. Explain ripper!Giles!

*grins* No slash just yet. Let me find my way around to start with. I need a new fandom like I need a hole in the head, but nevermind, this is fun.

Giles has a dark side? I'm intrigued.

Erm...

... I can't. It would spoil what is an absolutely delicious arc and I don't think I can justify doing that to anyone.

Just stick with this show until season 2, when it suddenly drastically improves and all the characters get given Real Depth. Ripper!Giles is one of these things.

And as season 1 is all of twelve episodes long, you don't actually have long to wait, either.

Yes! That was exactly my thought when she said that.

Giles does indeed have a dark side. Wait until you see "The Dark Age", or even more vividly, "The Gift". It doesn't come out in the early episodes, but as the seasons progress it's pretty clear. And a lovely sight to behold.
