Pirates

I am insanely bored. There are no words to describe how bored I am at this moment.

In other news, I finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean today. Well, it wasn't masterpiece. It wasn't the best film of the century or whatever. But it wasn't pretentious, or what Pedar calls pseudo-intellectual. Nor was it mindless plotlessness. It had scary bits and funny bits and clever bits, and I really did like it. Johnny Depp - inspired casting. He was swishy. Just so swishy. And he had the eyeliner, and the general pervasive air of oh-my-god-how-cool-is-he?. And the slash - oh, how it screamed slash. Of course, I went to see it with my mother and was so prevented from squeeing too much - this is a woman who emerged from the cinema and asked, "What is a pirate?"

I may get myself a Pirates icon fairly soon. And try and scribble a bit of slashy fic. I haven't read any of the reams of fic available yet, though. I want to try and see what I can make of it without outside influence.

God, that was pretentious and pseudo-intellectual. Try and ignore that I said that.

*whine* I wanted to see that, but everyone said, "That's lame!" and wouldn't go. Then, two by two, they went without me and said, "It was great!" but wouldn't go again. Grr...

I thought I was the only person in the world who hadn't seen it. Even osiris13, who goes to the cinema once a decade, told me she'd seen it, so I felt I had to go.

I would go and see it again. Will come with you if you like... :)

Well let's go, then. Moony was complaining just the other night that he hasn't been to the cinema in ages. He lies, of course, I took him to see Kill Bill just last weekend, but it seems as good a reason as any. :P

I saw a Johnny Depp/Captain Sparrow POTC icon ages ago with the text, "Maybe he's born with it; maybe it's Maybaline!" Maybaline (doubt that's the correct spelling) is a large cosmetics company over here, and that's their main advert line. Also, "Yes, but why is the rum gone?" is classic icon, and quoting in general, fodder.

I'd love to read PotC fic written by you *_* I was actually just thinking last night that most of the PotC fic I've seen isn't all that good, and that the writers on the mash-slash list are amazingly good, and how neat it would be if they wrote PotC fic, too.
