raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (rock 'n' roll)

I think I may have fallen into a new fandom. And I also seem to have made a new friend. She probably can't see, but I'm waving at her - [livejournal.com profile] davechicken.

[livejournal.com profile] lilka always used to spend a great deal of time teasing me about various things guaranteed to squick me. Note the past tense in that last sentence. Sigh. Anyway, she always used to use Harry Potter as an example. I will state right now, for the record, that I don't understand Harry/Draco slash. Neither do I understand Harry/Snape slash, or, in fact, Harry/anybody slash. I just don't see it. Doubtless I am a godless heathen for thinking this.

But then there's the other aspect - I only slash characters I like. I liked Daniel Jackson. Everyone seems to like Hawkeye. I'm moderately fond of Crowley and extremely so of Aziraphale. Harry Potter, on the other hand, is a good character, a good hero for the books, and in that respect I like him. I just don't like him enough to write fanfic about.

I have said all this before, which is why it's hidden under a cut-tag - I just felt it needed reiterating.
There is, in fact, only one character in the books I like enough to write fanfiction about. He's apparently JK Rowling's favourite character, too.
