raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (music with rocks in)
This is my do-nothing weekend. But I have done things. Last night I watched Dogma. In the morning, I had to go and get my eyes tested, which is not very exciting, but I may get myself contact lenses, which is more so.

But the exciting part is yet to come, and that is, I rang Patrick, he did answer, and I somehow arranged to meet him this afternoon. So, what do you do? I grabbed purse, phone, keys, earring (the sprays of red and black stars that [livejournal.com profile] shipperkitten gave me), and went off to Southport. I met him at the station, and neither of us had any idea where to go from there, until he suggested we go to Café Vivesco. It's in the town centre but hidden away in a corner somewhere; I had heard of it before from Mandy, of all people. It's a Christian café. I was worried, as I never have good experiences with religion, but it turned to be small and cute and painted lots of bright colours, and Patrick is an atheist.

How do I know that? Because he and I sat there talking (and drinking coffee, which he wouldn't let me pay for) for about two hours. It seems that Patrick is a Discworld fan, a Trekkie, has been watching Red Dwarf in the middle of the night and knew what I was talking about when I mentioned SG5. He's as close to being a part of fandom as you can be without actually bring a part of fandom. As well as that sort of thing, we seemed to talk about all kinds of irrelevant stuff - the subject of cows came up an inordinate number of times, as did conversation about our equally insane families, and the amount of goldfish he has accidentally killed (sixteen - no, really), and the delights of being a caffiene addict. Finally, someone came across to collect our long-empty cups and in doing so drop a very heavy hint.

We took it, and departed. We ended up wandering around Southport, and went to a bookshop I had never seen before - Broadhurst's, which was like one of the Discworld moving-through-the-multiverse bookshops. I said as much to Patrick, who agreed. We browsed through it and then, after a while, went wandering off again. I had to go home eventually, so he walked with me to the station. Unfortunately, this is the last time he's going to be home for three weeks, and I can't seem to text him. Will have to sort that out.

But, anyway. I have had a really nice afternoon, talked a lot, done very little, and Patrick said that he feels like he's known me forever, whereas we've only actually met twice. The feeling is quite mutual.

So. Um. I think I have a boyfriend. Argh.

And, [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow - the irony is not lost on me.
