I see by the last post that all you people have been very busy during the night. ka_crow, tobiascharity, I found your conversation about gorillas extremely interesting, and dougs, you get my eternal admiration and cucharita gets a packet of Skittles.

Incidentally, I did google for Spencer Eldon beforehand. The only easy way to find out who he was was to put the name in quotes, so I figured it wasn't that easy...

Anyway. I got up late and have to leave fairly soon. I really don't want to.

Spencer Eldon was too easy. I'm "Douglas Spencer", and I'm sort of tuned to hearing my name and remembering where I heard it. That and the fact that I collect useless facts ...

Aristotle Onassis was born on the 20th of January ... in 1906. At the age of 16 he left home with about sixty quid in his pocket and went to Argentina to become a tobacco trader, and was a dollar millionaire by the age of 23. In the post-WWI depression he bought a half-dozen unused ships and later developed a very successful tanker fleet. He ended up very very rich indeed.
