We went to SG-5 today. It was utterly surreal.
Last night, just when I was falling asleep, I heard Hannah say, "Everything is going to be okay."
It was an odd thing to say, and I didn't know what to reply, but it was something nice to fall asleep to. In the morning I asked her if she had said what I thought she'd said, and she told me, and then I remembered.
It set the mood for the rest of the day. Surreal.
To start with, on the way, we saw a huge oil spill, and the motorway was completely congested. We got there about an hour after we thought we would. And then when we got there, we were lost. We didn't know where to go to register, or anything, so I rang Hathor. Three times. She had to direct us to where we had to go...
I was starting to feel disillusioned by this point. It all seemed too chaotic, and everyone seemed to know everyone else - all around us, people were calling out, "Oh, my God! It's you!" - and we were wandering around feeling self conscious.
Hathor said they were in the American restaurant, which we couldn't go to, because of the restrictions on the photo sessions. It was around then we walked into Christopher Judge. As in, literally walked into him. The significance of this only dawned later.
We later wandered into the restaurant, and luckily, Hathor recognised me. She hugged me, and I was so startled I let her hug me(!)
She was with her family and Gill, also known as Nepthys, but we stood in the restaurant and talked for a while, before wandering off yet again to meet the rest of the jackfic-people. Nep had given me a badge, because I am a member of the list, although a lurker, and I wore it proudly. I rock.
We joined the queue for the opening ceremony later, and we got in quite quickly - we were in the seventh row, and there were so many guests! I can't be bothered to list all the actors' names, but their characters were Teal'c, Cromwell, Nirrti, Martouf, Kowalsky, Narim, Heru-ur, Apophis (he had an afro! weird!), Chevron Guy(!) and also a couple of behind-the-scene people - one of the producers and the location manager.
I think the best of the actors so far was JR Bourne (Martouf) - he seemed the most at ease with the crowd, which may be why he was the first out. When Chris Judge was on, he told everyone to all ask him a question, all at the same time! We (me, Em, Clare, Hathor and Nep) shouted "Sing!" The people at the front shouted "Strip!" He said he would tomorrow!
We had to leave at nine, and the opening ceremony finished at a quarter to, so we retired to the bar for a drink. Gill (Nep) was doing the alcohol-buying for us - she bought everything for us, and we relaxed with the bottles. I love Smirnoff Ice. One of my many weaknesses.
I think the best part of the evening was meeting Colleen (Hathor). I have talked to her for so long, and it seems like we've known each other for years. I like the whole experience.
Tomorrow, we have to leave at some unearthly hour of the morning. I want to find something to autograph - without my own stuff with me, it's a little ridiculous. I've got to remember to wear my dogtags.
I have so many details to impart. I've had a job delegated to me - write this whole thing up next week. Yes, I am off school - it will keep me busy and awake. The only other thing worth being conscious for will be Welcome to Korea.
It was fantastic. And the first party is tomorrow night!
One last thing - I found something to buy for
purplerainbow, who must be having a very quiet weekend without us. She was spared having to go to McDonalds with three people wearing Jackfic badges! At the time, I was the only one who was actually a member of the list - Nep is the Listmom. The other two have now joined. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact there's no slash allowed. Maybe I can change Nep's mind over the weekend. That is, providing she's sober for any of it.
We have to get up in less than seven hours. Not good. Especially for someone like me.

It went for £620... quite scary.
The pics - wait and see!
