It's very quiet in the house. So strange. Pedar and I have drunk coffee and watched M*A*S*H, things we do every day, but it's all strange without my mother around. She's in India now.
The M*A*S*H ep was one of those with a reflective theme rather than being funny, which didn't help with the general mood around here, but I thought it was sweet. Not slashy, just sweet. The last scene is a dramatic monologue - the guy with the guitar is playing something simple and sad in the background, and Radar is just talking to the Swamp in general, about how Trapper and Hawkeye are such extraordinary doctors - having spend thirty-six hours in surgery, they both went to the Chinese front lines in order to swap wounded casualties with them. It could have been a trap. It wasn't.
So Radar is talking, then suddenly he turns round, and both Trapper and Hawkeye have fallen asleep where they're sitting. So he covers them with blankets, and whispers "Good night," just as the guitar guy reaches the final few chords.
I have slept for three hours and feel much better. And now 'tis time to unplug the modem.
