raven: Crowley and Aziraphale with their wings visible (good omens - wings)
[personal profile] raven
I apparently haven't posted a vid since, uh, 2014. (I have made vids in the last five years, but for various not-that-nice reasons have not posted them.) But as you know friends I have completely lost my mind to Good Omens and, well, here we are. Many thanks to [personal profile] purplefringe, for encouragement, beta and ice cream in St James's Park.

(The outside source in this vid is comic panels from Neil Gaiman's Murder Mysteries, with art by P. Craig Russell, but it's not actually a crossover vid.)

[vid] waking hour [Good Omens]
by Raven
Things that matter too much to take anything but lightly. Aziraphale, Crowley, and ways of falling. Also at the AO3.

music: "Daughter", Vienna Teng, from Waking Hour

lyrics:
well it's you and it's me
me with a drink in my hand
the ice is tinkling like a wind chime
and late afternoon settles over the land
and you're talking about things
interesting just slightly
and things that matter too much
to say any way but lightly
did you know you're so beautiful
on the edge of summer
that years from now
I'll cry to remember
how very close you were
knowing this will I reach for you
knowing this will I reach for you
the way you want me to
well it's time to be wise
wise in the ways of the heart
to come out from under the covers
this voluntary state of apart
from the faces, oasis
in this Sahara of sorrow
these graces that hold me
it's from you that I borrow

Oh, I love the way you use the comic panels, what a neat idea!

This is lovely. I'd forgotten how gorgeous this song is, this slip of a song--that "so beautiful on the edge of summer" part is just aching, and I feel like the vid fits right into that with a sense of kinda-but-not-really-regret. The expressions of devotion feel especially poignant--Aziraphale praying, praying, praying, Crowley yelling at God, both of them turning hopelessly and hopefully toward each other. It's really beautiful.
