Ugh, oh my goodness, my heart is breaking! This is gorgeous and awful and you are a terrible/great human being. I love the characters you've chosen to pair together in the different sections, the parallels you've made (Geordi and Julian! Kira and Tasha! Dax and Sisko! DATA AND DEANNAAAAA!!), all the different ways it's possible to do violence to someone's identity, all the ways the characters keep each other safe, or try to... the bit(s) with the commbadges aaaaahhhhh... and that final shot just DESTROYED ME I AM NOT KIDDING.

Wowwww. Beautiful. It's been so long since I've seen the Star Treks that I'm certain I'm losing some of the resonance, but this just makes me want to throw myself back into watching it because it feels deep and rich and thoughtful. And I do get so much.

I love the way you captured the body language, deliberate movements. There was something slow and slightly chilling, like the song. It kept my visual focus really well, which is something I know, as a vidder, I struggle with when I'm using sources that are filmed in an older style, the way Trek can be? So like, mad props on that.

Ohhhhhhh.

So much of this vid is context-dependent, and I don't yet have that context, but it still makes my heart ache. Those flashes of overlays, all those parallel movements across time and space, all those questioning looks and defiant gestures and the feeling of trying to cling onto some sort of control that's slipping away…the emotion comes across, even without the context. As usual, your sense of pacing and movement is just lovely and the vid flows perfectly.

(And now I'm worried for Julian. <333)

I am so happy that final shot worked! I went back and forth on including it at that final moment, so yaaaaay! Also I am delighted you liked-fcvo-liked this vid, and I had you in mind when putting together the little bit about Data and Deanna :) Seriously, though, the show really loves pairing them up. it makes me happy, or else it makes me sad, I'm genuinely not sure. So glad you liked this, my dear! :)

Oh, thank you, my dear! I'm really happy to hear that the emotion came through regardless - I have SO MANY FEELINGS about these characters and this subject, it's possible they can be seen from space, and it's so nice to hear they've been expressed the way I wanted them to.

(Oh JULIAN. I initially wondered about saying to you, don't watch this, Julian spoilers! But then I thought, Julian's arc is so rich and complex, it'd be hard for concrete spoilers to come through in a vid, and then I just started thinking about Julian OH JULIAN YOU BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER and then that line of thought derailed abruptly. :))
