A happy, messy, brightly-coloured Holi to you all! I am going to New Orleans today, and the sun is still shining.

Gods, I sort of don't believe it's been a hole year since ... well, last year. I still think about the Holi fic you wrote for [community profile] purimgifts. That picture is still beautiful.

It's odd, but... that fic-exchange really helped the way I order the year in my head in such a way as too avoid a particular seasonal mood slump I'm accustomed to. Remembering that both my culture and yours understand the need for a brightly coloured festival of letting down the boundaries at about this time of year has been more useful to my mental health than I would have guessed. And perhaps slightly oddly, I feel a very strong sense that I should thank you for that realisation.

Where are our gods? In our hearts.

I love you, babes. Have a great time in New Orleans, and a happy, messy, brightly-coloured Holi to you too.

*smiles* I'm honoured, my dear. I really am. I'm with you in trying to reclaim my own festivals for myself - living in a Christian-majority environment hasn't given me very much for my own - and I think sharing that project is a good idea.

I love you, too, as if it needed saying. And I don't know if it helps for your theory at all, but Mardi Gras is at this time of year, too.

Happy Holi! I shall go and read your Holi story once more, and I must also read more about Holi itself. Do you recommend any sources?

What I recommend is donning the right outfit, picking up the paint and letting rip. :P In absence of that possibility, try Seasons of Splendour, by Madhur Jaffrey. :)

The guardian has some beautiful pictures of celebrations here (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/gallery/2011/mar/22/religion-hinduism#/?picture=372884437&index=0).

I ... I swear you were posting about Holi just a few months ago, not a WHOLE YEAR. I'm very confused now.

Have a lovely Holi and fun in New Orleans! :)

Heee! To make it slightly worse, it was thirteen months ago! Holi is not the same day every year. :P thank you, my dear.
