bad day

Today I got overslept, got soaked, got my card declined randomly (though the bank are as mystified as I am), then broke a tooth, and thought the day couldn't get any worse. And then I was in a minor car accident, and while I'm okay, I'm fine, I'm just a bit shaken up, I think I am going to eat dinner and take a bath and possibly have a glass of wine.

Oh, lord, flist, it's been a horrible day. Tell me happy stuff happening in your lives, and that I am not as stupid and ridiculous as I think I am right now. (The accident was entirely my fault, and the other parties were very nice about it, but, cringe, now the shock is wearing off I'm dying of embarrassment. Oh fail.)

You are not stupid or ridiculous. *big hugs* Arg, clumsy days happen to everyone, and that one time I nearly ran into a cyclist was probably the most scared I've ever been.

Happy things - I am learning about GRAMMAR. This makes me very happy.

That really really does sound like a hellish day. I hope you had that glass of wine, and then some more.
You are fabulous: you are clever and funny and caring and wonderful.

Happy things: in less than 4 days I'll be in my hometown. I'll see the brighter sun, and see people I love. Also, I'll drink the coffee that makes me happy deep in my soul.

Love you honey <3

You are wonderful! And not stupid or ridiculous at all. You are charming and beautiful and brilliant. And I'm glad you are okay.

Happy things: Lulu is fluffy and purry. And it's finally actually autumn and leaves are falling. And today I helped a 2nd-grader make a mask of a cat with a mustache and a chimney on its head. And I got a brownie at Starbucks on the way home. And I did my homework in the bath. And I think I will be Scaredy Squirrel (http://www.tbpl.ca/kidszone/6-8/goodbooks.asp?id=5881&cid=2678) for Halloween.

oh, you poor dear. I want to wrap you in a blanket and feed you a soothing drink. Perhaps full of rum.

um. . . I met someone from online in real life, and we really clicked! And I found a new sushi place to go to, which is lovely, since my old sushi place decided to let the baby chef prepare food for the customers and just, no, send him back to the nursery for a while, please.

Oh dear, that does sound like a terrible horrible no good very bad day by any stretch. I'm glad you're okay. You are neither stupid nor ridiculous. Only awesome.

Something happy in my life? I'm going to a NY Comic Con Geek Girls tweet up on Friday. and NY Comic Con over the weekend. Sadly, Paul McGann is not going to be there as originally planned.

Fender benders are just the perfect end to a crap day, aren't they? Hopefully the bath and wine will do the trick and you'll wake up less unsettled by it all, ready to tackle the world again.

And you're not stupid and ridiculous. Apparently you just like to get your craptastic unfortunate catastrophes out of the way all at once. You should be covered for quite awhile, I would think.

Good things for me include the fact that my fever broke so I'm coming out of the flu, I did not get into a wreck despite a few close calls (driving over an hour round trip in the rain sick as I am to get to the doctor was kind of stupid), I'm re-reading Anne of Green Gables and Anne always makes me happy, I got to watch The Princess Bride today which also always makes me happy, my dad's going to the grocery store for me tomorrow (I couldn't handle another stop after the doctor's and I will run out of soup and jell-o and where I live one really does have to drive everywhere) so I can rest up and kick this in time for work Wednesday, and I got to talk to my mom today which makes me happy (and she ended our conversation with a question about why her printer's not doing what she wants it to and that always makes me laugh since I'm not there and don't have the manual and can't see what's happening and so can't ever really help her, but she keeps asking me anyway).

god, I think that takes the prize for Worst Day Ever. I'm glad you're all in one piece. And seriously, if no one was hurt and the other people weren't upset, then cut yourself some slack on the car accident. It happens to just about everyone eventually.

You are not stupid at all. You can DRIVE a car. So you're one up on me. :)

Happy things for me: I survived today. I have white wine and cookies. I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep. My mother and my girlfriend are writing letters to each other. I got invited to a low-key housewarming party this weekend. I love my advisor with a near-fangirlish intensity. And somewhere in this town tonight, a lot of lesbians are eating a lot of cheese.

Thank you, Leigh, I think I needed to hear that. I feel like SUCH AN IDIOT over the whole thing. I knew I needed more practice to be confident driving and it was stupid to go out after dark, but at the same time how do I practice without driving and how will I be able to drive at night if I don't drive at night.

I love that your mother and girlfriend are writing letters to each other. Nearly as much as I love the LESBIANS WITH CHEESE. (omg, I'm still so impressed by this whole thing. Queer outreach! With cheese!)

*HUG* Any one of those things would be enough to shake a person up. All of them together is just ridiculously unfair. Have some wine and a good soak - you deserve it.

Happy stuff? I saw a baby giraffe at the zoo today. He was born in August and he's so little - only eight feet tall.

I don't know - a bath and wine with your current luck is likely to end up with electrocution, and then having your death reported in the press as a kinky drunken sex adventure gone wrong. With the Sun picking up the story to make general comments about evil bisexuals and the bad ends they come to.

I think instead you should remove everything breakable from your room, cover everything else with padding and wait for the bad luck to pass (like the fun middle scenes in Final Destination)

That sounds utterly awful; poor you. I hope things have improved.

Happy stuff: despite my epsisode of University Challenge not being on (bloody golf overrunning), my friends rallied around anyway and we watched Starter For 10 and ate candy corn my friend C brought back from New York. And this morning I discovered an iced bun that I had bought for lunch yesterday and forgotten about, so I got to have it for breakfast. :)

I'm so sorry about your bad day! About the only thing you can say about a day like that is--at least it was concentrated misfortune? Someone else might have spread that out over a week of torture, but you--efficient!

I'm happy that the box of yarn I excavated from my closet this weekend still contains yarn, not moths or terrifying yarnmonsters. But for real therapeutic value I always turn to Shirtless Nimoy:

Thank you. :) My efficient approach towards total catastrophe seems to be abating somewhat. Fingers crossed.

Oh my goodness, that is an appalling day, I'm glad you're okay and you should definitely have a bath and a glass of wine, possibly concurrant with a good book?

In terms of happy things going on right now, I thought I lost my coat last night so spent hours this afternoon on the phones retracing my steps, and then I came home and discovered that it was, in fact, in my hallway. Hurrah!

(And this is my happiest icon, it makes me smile every single time, so I hope it helps.)

Eep. Wine sounds excellent.

Good things...came back from London with a new stripy handwarmers, half a baby blanket and an unconscionable amount of interesting teas. Also tomorrow contains wine and gnocchi.

Also apparently the time to start singing the bit of 'Squalor Victoria' about running through cities is not when you've just said 'Let's make a run for it!' into what turns out to be a downpour of biblical proportions, otherwise your beloved will try to throw you in a puddle.
