raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (merlin - upside-down)

Merlin! I have two things to say:

-This was probably the weakest episode so far, for a whole lot of objective reasons - the dialogue is incredibly stilted (for some reason, they're running the gamut of the register from "yeah, okay" to "I cannot, he is in mortal peril"), it doesn't pass the Bechdel test, Morgana gets nothing to do. But. But, I watched it, and then there was Gaius, and Arthur, and Lancelot, and Merlin, and, and, they are so lovely, and then they got to "You are the only thing I care about in this world" and I sort, of, er, teared up. Oh dear.

-Also. The geneaologist in the court of Uther Pendragon is Geoffrey of Monmouth. dsgdjfgdfgsdkfjdkg. I just... yeah. Um. Oh, show.

The fact there are only thirteen episodes is going to kill me, isn't it?

NBC bought series 1, so there is no way the BBC won't greenlight a second series.

Hurrah for the BBC. I'm surprised at NBC nabbing it; it doesn't seem their kind of fare, as a general thing.

Everyone seems pretty confident about a second season so far so at least there's that :) I love Merlin so much!

Me tooooo. I hope the BBC did what they did with Life on Mars, and decide in advance exactly how much of it they want to make, because that approach does work really well. But, oh, show, it's so great. I'm trying desperately to catch up so I can watch it on actual television tomorrow!

I love Geoffrey of Monmouth! Heeee. He shows up again, too.

My favourite thing - apart from the Everybody Loves Lancelot-ness of it, which, WHAT - was Gwen and Merlin having a girly chat about boys. TOO CUTE! The "only thing I care about" moment was surprisingly affecting too, definitely. And I liked Gwen and Lancelot, I thought it was actually kind of well done, with them having a their commoner status and attitude towards it in common, and him clearly getting how fabulous she is.

Oh so Launcelot is the same age as well - Merlin bloody names him as a child!

(Please tell me when these comments just become annoying, if they haven't already)
