I got a 2:1. Am pleased. Parents really won't be, if I know them. I would have liked a first, but am Not That Sort of Person. No, really. It's to do with, well, I could've got a first, but not without doing at least four times more work than I did do during my degree, and I did not sit around and do nothing during my degree. It's just, I am not an intuitively awesome PPEist, I am not that smart and I am not particularly academic. It's to do with, not having directed plays and danced around Oxford in the middle of the night and made caipirinhas at the drop of a hat and all such manner of glorious things.

Anyway. It's a very wet and windy day, and I am going to San Francisco tonight.

I suspect they will get over it when it clicks that you are going to be a flash lawyer and keep them comfortable in their dotage. Alternatively: sod 'em, go to America.

I am happy for you, and I do believe that in the long run, having directed plays and danced around Oxford and whatnot is better for you, since you did do academic work and still did well. *hugs*

Have a lovely time in San Francisco. :)

Congratulations. If you are pleased, that's all that matters. And over the past three years, I have loved to read about the amazing amount of life surrounding your studies, and I am glad that you allowed yourself those things.

A 2:1 from Oxford is probably better than a first from some other Universities in the eyes of some and I think you would have gone crazy had you not had the chance to do other stuff.
Congrats and have fun in San Fran, I'd love to go.

Have a great trip!

Congratulations!

You have a 2:1 from Oxford, you managed to have a life while you did it, and you're still relatively sane. That's a pretty massive achievement. I think your parent's will be fine.

AHHH! I discovered with the help of Google that your results went up sometime today, and so I broke my cardinal No LJ at Work rule to come over here and check if you'd gotten them. And you did! And they were great! A 2:1's what you needed to stay on at Oxford, yes? Congratulations! And speaking as someone who sacrificed having a life to higher education for four years--you made the right choice.

I GET YOU TOMORROW!

Well done! When I told my stepmother I had a 2:1, she said, "Well, that's very good, considering what a tough time you've had!" which made me cross, but I did not say anything as often people on the outside do not understand.

I have to agree with previous comments: I am sure that a 2:1 from Oxford is worth more than many degrees elsewhere. And what's more importantly, you did live - you had some truly amazing adventures (which provided excellent fodder for entertaining LJ entries).

Congratulations to you. :) I'm so proud. I'm excited to have been reading about your life (and even to have visited you once!) during your Oxford adventures. And, of course, I look forward to many more.

Go to San Fran and drink and have adventures. You've earned a serious celebration. :D

Congratulations, that's brilliant!

I completely agree with you about university being far more than just about academia. It's easy to feel defined by the degree you get, but when you look at the friends you've made and the experiences you've had, you realise that you're a far richer richer person for them. Besides a 2:1 from Oxford is still blimmin' awesome!
