The LSAT is in two days. I am calm. I am intelligent. I am together. I just got half a mug of soup into my hair.

(A note to whoeever assigns me to my next life: I like having hair with volume, I do, but hair that is not a major force for atmospheric displacement would be good, too. It took two lots of shampoo to get the carroty bits out.)

Yeah, I am emphatically not together right now. I had a to-do list as long my arm - still do - and meant to get through at least some of it, but nothing doing. I rolled out of bed this morning and went down to the shore. A couple of days ago I was knee-deep in LSAT prep when [livejournal.com profile] lilka rang me unexpectedly, saying she was going for a walk and I should come along; I dropped my pencil, left the front door open and walked straight into the woods. We had a nice time trying to feed red squirrels and stumbling over someone's bivouac, finding their traces inside - chocolate wrappers pencils - and finally wandering out over the dunes. I've been wandering out there a lot lately - I think it might be because I've been either in the bookshop or holed up in here with pencils and LSAT prep, and the moment my body realises it could get a little exercise it makes me want to head into the wind - which is always towards the sea - and walk until I drop, or until I run out of land to walk on and have to step, barefoot, into the water. I always do it, even when I know I haven't got a towel and the wind's going to freeze my feet all the way home, and I'm always surprised that something can actually be that cold, and I keep on doing it.

But it's time to go. I have all my stuff in boxes, and I'm going to London tomorrow to see my cousin Munna, who has apparently left New York for good. She's settled in a flat near London Bridge, and I'm going to see her, have a nice relaxing evening not thinking about the LSAT, and go to some place near Barbican on Saturday to actually do the stupid thing. Having fully read the instructions, I've now found out that they plan to keep me there for seven hours. Which makes sense, because of course I'll be taking the test several hours before the Americans do, but.... aaaargh. Not fair. Not fair not fair not fair.

Stomp, pout, smash plate, slam door, etc.

(Not that I need to smash any more kitchenware today. Soup in MY HAIR, people.)

On Sunday, I'm going back to Oxford, together with just about everything I own, and moving into the new flat. And that's that. Hopefully, I'll have internet after a couple of days, and I'm sure I can cadge Munna's, but I'll probably be quiet for a bit. I'm hoping that I won't be entirely swamped with everything that I have to do next week, but it may happen. I don't know. I won't disappear from the face of fandom, because I'm a back-up for [livejournal.com profile] ds_team_angst, but, y'know, busy.

There's something wrong with my head tonight. Not a good time for it, but never mind.

Before I go, fic:

PG, gen, Slings & Arrows. A story, appropriately enough, about coming home.

And now it really is time for me to go.

Good luck, I am sure that you will do fabulously! :) Well done for being so good and preparing and everything, something I have been putting off all summer. Until today, when I have spend most of my day researching schools of international relations in America and now want to curl into a little ball and cry. :(

Good lord. Why can't they just have you take it in the afternoon, so you don't have to stay until it's noon in (parts of) the US?

*is suddenly terribly glad to have taken the SAT/ACT/GRE in GMT -6*

Good luck!

I mean, of course, that you would be staying until it's noon here, but you wouldn't be starting at ohmygod o'clock in the morning. (Hi, I can make sense.)

Good luck, stay calm, and don't drink too much water beforehand.

You'll be great!

Good luck! Good luck good luck good luck. You will be great, I'm sure. Hope you're allowed a book for your seven hours of captivity. *hugs*

Good luck good luck, you are wonderful and clever and you will be fine. And I will see you in a few days, as soon as I work my way out of the fort-thing of all my stuff which I have accidentally built. Luckily it has my laptop in it.

Regarding the big hair; I feel your pain. I, however, once made the mistake of eating a piece of biscuit I found in my fringe, and admitting this to the people around me. I hint: do not do this.

No worries. You're going to ace the LSAT, I feel it. (Can one "ace" the LSAT? Well, if anyone can, you can.)

Yay fic! *bookmarks for the next free moment*
