raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (firefly - kaylee)

I'm watching a very old XF episode at the moment, called "Oubliette". It's one of the ones I saw the first time round, and all my memory supplied from seven years ago was that it's a really quite upsetting story. This proved accurate; it's about a sadistic kidnapper who preys on small girls, and a good scary plot about a mysterious telepathic connection and Mulder over-identifying and it's all very tragic.

But yes, I was watching it, actually quite engrossed in it, and thinking about the first kidnap victim that I know her from somewhere, and, well, it finally dawned on me. It is now much more upsetting, if that is at all possible.

Looky here, from "Oubliette":

I'm surprised it took me so long to notice, but omg, Kaylee! Or, presumably, a very young Jewel Staite. But still. Kaylee being kidnapped and put in a dungeon and then almost drowned is just NOT ALLOWED. Sorry, universe. Just Not On.

Yes, that is me done for the evening.

I love how all the fandoms I enjoy eventually tend to cross over. Like Brad Whitford on TXF, or this, or Lisa Edelstein on every Sorkin show ever.

For sure! He was in the episode Firewalker in S2 as a maddened scientist (http://xfphotos.fredfarm.com/season2/firewalker/cap156.jpg) avoiding a dildo spore (http://www.entil2001.com/series/x-files/reviews/season2/xf2-9p1.jpg) (okay, that's not what it was supposed to be, but that's what it looked like sprouting out of people's throats and it was silicon based) by living in a volcano and becoming all arms and ashes (http://xfphotos.fredfarm.com/season2/firewalker/cap304.jpg). Because even then, he was rocking the biceps (http://xfphotos.fredfarm.com/season2/firewalker/cap330.jpg).

Oh, wow. She looks so incredibly young and innocent - and there I was thinking that she was young and innocent as Kaylee!

(and I'm allowed to call her young, as I'm 3 years older than her)

I saw an advert for The OC and it had the woman from Heart of Glass in it. I went, "Ooh! Ohh! Er, that's - that's her! That's the- thing from... something!" at the telly for quite a long time.

Sorry, universe. Just Not On.

*agrees* Looking at that picture, I'm left with a strong urge to write a letter to the Management.
