Icon meme

raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (misc - economics)
[personal profile] raven
Aaaargh my life is not going well. Quite the opposite, in fact. But I am not thinking about it. Watch me not think about it. So instead, I have stolen an icon meme off [livejournal.com profile] taraljc which is far more fun.

Current Default Icon:

Oldest Icon:

It's also the only icon I have that has at least two more years' guaranteed staying power.

Newest Icon:

So new I haven't used it all yet. But oh, the joy. It is Powerpuff!Tonks nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] potterpuffs, naturally, and I am in deep and everlasting love with it. The hair! Look at her lovely hair! And her Weird Sisters t-shirt, omg! Far too cute.

Saddest Icon:
This is the icon I use when I am sad:

because to me it looks rather bleak, and "perdue" is one of the few words I can both remember and translate from eight years of French, so there you go. But this is the icon that is saddest to look at:

There are so few fandoms which feature the main character clinging to a television and crying. There should be more.

Happiest Icon:

Was there any doubt? Can there be a non-happy Kaylee icon?

Angriest Icon:

This is my actual angry icon. I only use it when really, really pissed off.

Cutest Icon:

Powerpuff!Tonks came a close second, but it's Mortimer. There is nothing in the world more adorable than Mortimer. *loves on him*

Sexiest Icon:

Ahem.

Most Humourous Icon:

I love this. Sometimes I yearn to say it in RL as the only sentiment that will adequately express my feelings.

Favourite ship icon:
I have no ship icons, alas! I usually do, but not at present for some reason.

Favourite Fandom icon:

It's so pretty!

Icon used the most (other than default):

I love this icon so much. Whumped!Ten, yay!

Favorite Overall:

Was my default for ages. Is pretty.

Icon I have with me in it:

That is me, yes. I quite like it, for all the photo is three years old, for it's still very much me.

STATS
How many icons do you have in total? 27
How many can you have? 42
If you could buy space for more, would you? Hate to say it, but no. An anonymous angel gave me extra userpics, and I was delighted and uploaded all my favourites, but I still didn't get more than fifty or so. Forty-two is just fine for me.
What fandom do you have the most icons out of? Depends if girl!Doctor counts as Doctor Who, because if so, then I have five DW ones and five HP ones.
The second most? HP and Life On Mars (three).
What ship do you have the most icons out of? No ship icons!
How do you categorize your icons? By fandom, with girl!Doctor and [livejournal.com profile] shoebox_project separately, and then by misc for the real life related ones.
Are your icons mostly made by other users? Yes, all but my default and the one with me in. I have this thing about using icons I've made. It's sort of like how you can't do a magic trick on yourself, 'cause you know how it's done; basically, icons aren't pretty to me if I know how they were put together! This is why I avoid icon tutorials like the plague and hardly ever make them myself.
Animated icons are... okay. Ish. I'm not overly fond.
In general, I think icons... are overrated. A little bit. I mean, some of the stuff that goes on to [livejournal.com profile] iconrants makes me cringe. By far one of the wankiest corners of fandom, is icon-making.

There is an audience participation bit, too, which I quite like:

Which of my current icons:
1. Which icon do you associate most with me?
2. is your favorite and why?
3. is your least favorite and why?
4. would you like some context for, don't get, or just generally want more info?
5. have you never noticed I even had before?
6. What do you think I should have an icon for that I don't?
7. When you comment, use your favourite icon and tell me why you love it!

Really not thinking about it. Am off to write lots of Remus/Tonks and cook something with parsnips in.

Awww, mortimer! I remember watching him on Jackanory for a time, and then didn't they have a series? if it's what I'm thinking of anyway...

They were on Jackanory! I've just remembered that! It's the books that I used to love.

I don't think I had many books as a kid - the stuff mum got for me as a babbit and kept for my brother, the chronicles of narnia (well read, they were my mums), the animals of farthing wood, various dictionaries, encyclopedia, poetry etc... and beatrix potter I think. I don't know that I had very much more then that.
But I do remember loving it on jackanory :)

1. Which icon do you associate most with me?

Because I love Rachel Weisz and I always look out for this icon from you :D

2. is your favorite and why?

*points up* and because I'm shallow and quite fancy her in that picture. ^_^

3. is your least favorite and why?

because Maths is Scary.

4. would you like some context for, don't get, or just generally want more info?

because I've never seen the show, so I don't understand why he's clinging to his telly.

5. have you never noticed I even had before?

...because... I don't know why. I knew you liked M*A*S*H* but I never knew you had an icon of it. BAD ME.

6. What do you think I should have an icon for that I don't?

I would like to see one of India, your favourite photo/image of the place. I love reading all the stuff you write about it, see, and I'd like to see it. :)

7. When you comment, use your favourite icon and tell me why you love it!

OMG FRINGE Icon. Because it's Obi! Skwee!

1. Rachel Weisz is my Sooper Seekrit Celebrity Crush. Except not that seekrit.

3. Amen! I use it because it makes me feel like Hermione and clever. *nodnod*

4. Why is he clinging to his telly? Oh, that is such a good question. Briefly: Sam's trapped in 1973 when actually he's in a coma in 2006. He hears voices from the future - his mum, his girlfriend, the doctors - through the telly. Yep. And they talk to him and then they go away, and he is very sad. And clings to it and cries. And looks very pretty doing it.

5. I haven't used it much, to be fair. I just couldn't resist Hawkeye's sad face.

6. I've thought about that before, and never got around to it! Thank you for the reminder. *g*

7. Eee! Such a fringe.

tau_sigma: (Two on the beach)
Posted by [personal profile] tau_sigma
Ooh, exciting meme! I want to do it, but must leave the computer, because it's already caused this state of pseudo-inebriation and random exclamations, and lack of food. Anyway...

1. (This coding is so unlikely to work, in which case I shall have to come back and delete this, argh...)

2. Too much choice! I love most of your icons. But I'll go with

because it makes me laugh every time I see it. *g*

3.
Just because film!Remus has The Moustache, sadly.

4.
Assuming it's a quote, where is it from?

5. Um, quite a few, actually. Mainly Life on Mars or Tonks ones. I am Unobservant, or you haven't used them yet.

6. Um. *thinks* No idea.

7. Because it's Two, and he's on the beach, and wearing a woolly hat. What more could one want?

Also, your new Tonks icon is really rather hypnotic... *stares vacantly*

*large hugs* Enjoy your parsnips.

2. I keep it for those occasions where it encapsulates the gist of the post it's attached to. Which is happening far too often, these days. *g*

3. It is an evil moustache, this is true. But look at it this way - the next one has teenage!Remus, and that will make everything better. :)

4. Hamlet, Act 1 scene iii.

"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell: my blessing season this in thee!"

7. Nothing more! It's the icon I immediately associate with you. No-one else on my flist has Two icons. I call this shameful.

*distant sound of parsnips crunching* Mmmmm.

Ooh, audience participation!

1. Which icon do you associate most with me?
Kaylee and the parasol. Definitely.

2. is your favorite and why?
Girl!doctor "empires toppling" Because girl!doctor. Mmm. And I adore that quote.

3. is your least favorite and why?
Vamp Willow. *skeered*

4. would you like some context for, don't get, or just generally want more info?
The M*A*S*H one because I know very little about the show and am always up for rectifying that.

5. have you never noticed I even had before?
The Tonks one with the unknown maker. Wow. I'm just going to notice that one for a little while longer. *stares*

6. What do you think I should have an icon for that I don't?
Gene! Come to think of it, I need actual LoM icons instead of just this generic time travel one.

7. When you comment, use your favourite icon and tell me why you love it!
This icon is glorious because of the serious expressions coupled with the ridiculous goggles. The B&W contrasting with the yellow is also very cool. Plus, this icon gives me the opportunity to say "action dorks". Action dorks!

And when I say "this generic time travel icon", I mean the one right here that I was using right up until I changed it for the action dorks(!) in the last question. *facepalm*

2. I love that quote too, and the whole pic, and just, yes, I am so glad that [livejournal.com profile] calapine makes such lovely girl!Doctor icons.

4. Oooh, M*A*S*H! I have that icon for when I talk about my halcyon days in that fandom, which was the best fandom ever without exception. Anyway, M*A*S*H stands for "Mobile Army Surgical Hospital", and the show is about one such hospital a few miles from the front lines of the Korean War. It started off as a comedy that got darker and darker until it finished off quite horrific, but it stays good throughout. The icon features Hawkeye Pierce, who is this wisecracking surgeon with a crazy sense of humour and is quite clearly sleeping with everyone male or female in the camp OMG who is always on the edge of coming mentally unglued and I love him.

5. I love that icon so much. I know they've cast an actress for her now, but I can't let that one go. *licks it*

7. Action dorks yay!

Oh icons. My one true love. I have 106. I think I might be an iconholic. :( I shall steal this meme for it is love, though choosing will not be easy.

Also, I would try to answer your questions without showing the icons, because saving and uploading and linking is entirely too much effort, perhaps there is another way but I am not aware of tt.

1. Kaylee's parasol, also Balliol and the pic of you obviously, but if I had to choose one it would be Kaylee.
2. The other one of Kaylee, it is so beautiful.
3. The Stop it! Life on Mars one for purely aesthetic reasons.
4. Um. What does Perdue mean? Yeah, my french sucks. :(
5. Tonks (I like that one a lot, do you know who is in it?), also the LoM ones.
6. Hmm. Nothing wrong with a ship icon or two.
7. I love so many of my icons so much, but the default has been my default for ages now and I am not tired of it so it must be my favourite. I remember finding the pic and thinking: 'omg so hot, need to icon now' and I still think so, it's something to do with the red lips I think.

I should be writing a fairly important paper right now. But I'd rather meme you:

1. Which icon do you associate most with me?
Kaylee and the parasol. Secondarily, Balliol and "Ten points from Gryffindor."

2. is your favorite and why?
The lovely Hawkeye one. Or the black and white one of you.

3. is your least favorite and why?
Possibly the all-text shoebox_project one? I kind of like them all, though.

4. would you like some context for, don't get, or just generally want more info?
I think I have a sense of most of them, but what about the "Young Remus" one?

5. have you never noticed I even had before?
A lot, wow. The screaming DW one, the Life on Mars one with the two men, the shoebox_project one, the girl!doctor, Hawkeye, winter... in fact, everything after shoebox_project.

6. What do you think I should have an icon for that I don't?
*thinks* I think most sides of you are fairly well-represented here. :)

7. When you comment, use your favourite icon and tell me why you love it!
(I switched commenting journals just so I could have a better pick of icons here.)
I am deeply in love with all of the icons for this journal, but since this is currently my most exciting fandom, I'm choosing this icon. Because seriously, the slash writes itself.

I should be revising for exams in, oh, eleven days. But I'd rather talk to you.

2. Oh, Hawkeye. I think I always need a Hawkeye icon just for tradition's sake. But when I went hunting for that one, I was shocked - there are actual M*A*S*H icon makers now! With communities and everything! Wasn't like that in our day. :P

4. Ah, there is a story behind that one. I don't know if you know, but in Order of the Phoenix, there is a scene where through a bit of narrative jiggery-pokery, Harry gets to see his parents, Sirius and Remus as their teenage selves. Rumour has it that this section has made it into the film version, and the current associated casting rumour is that the boy in the icon, Stuart Hastings, will be playing Remus aged fifteen. It's not confirmed, which is why I'm not using the icon very much, but the resemblance is pretty good and he does have that very 1975 hair, so I'm hoping.

5. I am rubbish with icons, I swear. I see pretty ones, think "ooh, pretty", upload and then never use them. I have no idea why.

7. I like the look of yearning. Very... um.... platonic. *g*
