Why am I up so stupidly early, I hear you ask? It seems that in their infinite wisdom, the college decided to have a fire drill at eight o'clock in the morning. My crazy brain having only (grudingingly) allowed me to sleep at about three, I am now less than pleased. It's not worth my going back to bed, because Logic surgery is at nine and UK Politics at Schools at ten (watch me hare down Turl Street in manner of authentic student). Siiiigh.

I should have done at least some Logic yesterday, but I decided to have coffee and various wandering round Oxford with [livejournal.com profile] wadiekin, while also remotely helping with a crisis; Claire, in London, has lost her purse on the Oxford Tube, with money, cards, pre-paid food, Bod card, everything. Therefore I was running around trying to get numbers for her to call, and then Pat had the genius idea for us to meet the bus she went on as it comes back to Oxford at six. Unfortunately she had this genius idea at five to six, and consequently we ended up sprinting down towards Cornmarket trying not to dodge the tourists and just got there in time. Nothing doing, though. They say to call up this morning.

In the meantime, I have to print off Logic, which is taking over my life. In the very very good news category, I've been given the chance to give it up! I have to survive this week and then convince Bob that really, Logic and I are better off seeing other people and that I should do Mill instead. But this week, Logic is not survivable. It features truth-tables (which I like) and propositional tableaux (which I don't) and enough work to make a beaver cry. I've had five hours' sleep! I cannot cope with this!

I wish Claire would hurry up and get back, and that today would hurry up and be over. Logic. Waaah. I think I shall go to Blackwell's on the way back from Schools and buy a book, any book. I want some sort of indulgence, and I have been distractedly munching cookies since being jerked out of bed. (At 35p a packet, I think I get through a lot of them.)

Sigh. Logic.

His name is Paul and theres no need for the oh dear me hes really nice.
And intelligent, he went to bluecoats and even applied to the Boys school but could only get a partial scholarship so couldn't afford it.
Plus hes rather gorgeous and invited me to see his band play last night in Liverpool, I ended up going on my own (I know fun) and he spent the entire night talking to me. He's rather lovely.

Firedrills are fun; the best one last year was at 3 am, when it was snowing

PS, why is vampire!Willow licking necks a suitable picture for expressing the mood 'logical'?

It's actually the mood icon for "drained", which is how I do feel; "drained" being a pun in itself, drained of blood, etc., etc., I have no sense of humour.

Logic surgery? They've got you cutting into brains already?

Ah, if only! Surgery as in an MP's surgery, not a doctor's. I'd take the brains, though.

I still don't know what that is! What is an MP and why are they allowing you to surger him?

Hee, I forget you're not British. An MP is a Member of Parliament, and most of them have two days a month where you go to them where your problems, like housing or tax or disputes with the council or something, and it's called a surgery. This is the same, only it's the Logic tutors sitting behind a desk for you to come with all your Logic problems.

Awww, wish I could come and do all your logic for you and then everything would be ok. It'll all be over soon, just like my six weeks of statistics. *hugs*

My students have been complaining about fire drills as well and they have my wholehearted sympathy for that.
To make you feel better about the fire drill:
1) You could have been in the shower. (Funny story: this happened once. I tossed on my bathrobe and went out into the snow. My roommate, who was in her pyjamas, was cold and tried to climb into my bathrobe. I warned her, "I'm naked under there." She decided not to climb in after all)
2) It could have been 3 a.m.
3) It could have been in Canada and thus -30C out.
But still. *snuggles*
Good luck breaking up with logic!

I was in the shower at home when the smoke alarm went off. Just as bad. :)

It wasn't three am and it wasn't too cold for my hoodie and scarf, so you're right, could have been worse. Other colleges apparently had it worse than us.

Logic is being a psycho stalker. It's over between us, dammit!
