Walking on by

I fell asleep, and I had a dream. I dreamed I woke up in my bed, and sunlight was streaming through the window, and it was quiet except for the birds singing. I got up, and found it was twelve thirty, and no-one had woken me. I was frightened for some reason, and I turned on the computer to try and forget about it, and I found that none of the sites had been updated during the night, not even my friends page, and no fanfic sites, and I had no e-mail and no-one was online. I got bored, and I was afraid again, so I turned on the TV, and all the channels were black screens. There was nothing there. So I went outside, and there was no-one on the road, which isn't unusual here, but I stayed there for hours, and no-one walked past, there were no cars on the road, and I went next door, and no-one was home despite the cars in the drive, and no-one answered the phone when I tried to ring them. And then I knew, I just knew that everyone was gone, and I was the only person left in this whole world. I walked out onto the road, and realised that if I lay down here, I'd never be run over, because there ws no-one to run me over, and I screamed and no-one heard.
And then I woke up for real, and I was in my bed and the sunlight was streaming in at the window, and it was quiet except for the birds singing.
