That's it from me for a good long while, now. For most of this week, I will be in Egypt. Pedar has a conference in Cairo and my mother and I are tagging along; it should be lovely, as I've never been. No internet access, probably, so I fear the trip will never be chronicled. Heh.
We get back on either Friday night or Saturday morning, I'm not sure which, and drive down to Oxford on Sunday morning (a day early, because Pedar apparently has several clinics on the Monday, but I don't mind), and then I guess it'll be a while before I get the internet on Loki again. Freshers' week is until the ninth, I think, so probably some time before then.
So goodbye, everyone, and I hope you all have a good fortnight. When you hear from me again I'll have left home, and everything will be different. Please don't forget me.

on 2005-09-27 07:55 pm (UTC)Me: What does crab taste like? I can't remember.
Brother: Good!
Dad: It's seafood-y, stronger than some, meaty texture...
Me: I said it tasted a bit like chicken.
Mum: Texture like chicken, but stronger flavour.
Dad: Stronger, more like other seafood-- why are you asking.
Me: Iona asked. She wondered if she should try it as a sandwich filling.
Brother: Depends if it's fresh or paste.
Mum: Crab has white meat and dark meat.
Dad: Does she like other seafood-- shrimp, lobster?
Brother: Because I like fresh crab, but not paste.
Mum: It's hard to say what food tastes like, anyway. I mean, you can say an apple tastes like a pear, but it tastes more like an apple.
Me: It would, being an apple.
Dad: And you could say it tastes sweet, but if you bit a cooking apple you wouldn't agree.
Brother: *something irrelvant about computers*
So, now you know. They all like it if it's fresh, and they think that in Liverpool you stand a fair chance of getting fresh-from-the-docks (though they're only guessing on that), but that you should skip any you're offered in Oxford as it'll be paste, old, or hideously expensive.
There's an overlong answer to a casual enquiry.
