ravenIs there anything more annoying than this? I was shattered the whole day, dozing off in my coffee, losing my train of thought every five minutes (I short-changed a customer by a tenner!) and not even noticing I hadn't been paid when I wandered out the shop at half five. And now, when I can sleep, I can't. I have to be in work for nine, which is less than seven hours away, and I am wide awake. Plus Mike's back, having recovered from the flu, and Tony's stolen car turned up at Liverpool Airport with the keys in the ignition (all morning we were wondering if it was his car that had the bomb in it, but thankfully that was Manchester), and if I don't sleep I will have a dreadful day tomorrow and the day after. I don't have time for insomnia, dammit.
So I shall spam you all instead, with the Shakespeare meme.
Sonnet 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
Love Is Not Love is still my favourite fic of my own - it's one of the few I can look back on and still genuinely like the way I wrote it - and I read and re-read the sonnet while I was writing the fic. It's stayed with me, even though I know very little about Shakespeare's sonnets and am better informed about the plays.
...yawn. This time I hope I actually fall asleep.
