You can add what schools you went to in your userinfo now, apparently. I was surprised that it hadn't already been done, but I added Merchants' for approval. With all the apostrophes. Just a heads-up so no-one else has to bother.
Edited to add: Does it have "the" at the beginning? I just realised I have no idea.
Edited again: Just remembered there used to be an LJ comm for people who went to my school. Judging from the info page most of the members have deleted their journals. Anyway, what boggles me - I can see that people joined who didn't go to Merchants'. People in America or somewhere actually used to join and say "hi, i'm new, what's Merchants'?" Wha-huh?

on 2005-09-23 10:13 am (UTC)And there is no way I'm adding my school to that list, heh. I know a whole bunch of people who have LJs (which I found -and- read, lol) but I like having my secret online world which nobody knows about. Well, with one exception, but she's more like an online friend who happened to go to school with me.
The whole school thing seems a bit disorganised, though. London is listed under No State and under Surrey (with different schools under each) and Oxford University is listed twice with a whole bunch of different people in each.

on 2005-09-23 05:15 pm (UTC)I found LJ through school and my first LJ friends were school friends, so I guess I'm a special case.
That really bugs me! I wish you could weed through and make corrections, like on Wiki.

on 2005-09-23 06:16 pm (UTC)Yeah, my friends all considered the internet to be major nerd territory when I start going online. It was always my safe geeky haven, so I'm still reluctant to have much contact with RL people online -- for some reason I find it really weird. But now the internet is becoming so integrated in people's lives, it's a bit harder to keep that separate online persona. Not that I ever behaved very differently online, it was just ... a different sphere of my life.
*agrees that it is very silly* Hopefully it will get in such a state that they decide to organise it properly. It would be good if they could at least make a correct list of English cities and counties (likewise for other countries).
