Well, this is embarrassing. I can't think of any ideas for my own ficathon entry. One would think that as I actually chose which challenge I wanted to do, I wouldn't have this problem. Apparently not. All along I've been half-wondering if the litgeek!Doctor fic (which ohmygod, I have actually finished) would serve the purpose, but I eventually decided that's probably not the way to go about it.

So, I need to write a new fic in eight days, and it has to fit a (fairly vague) challenge. You never realise how many historical periods there are in history until you actually have to pick one. I can't decide between imperial China, peace-and-love Woodstock or Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

Sigh. Because I still have no real life and everything is dominated by fandom, I give you a rec: Rose Sings and the Doctor Dances (Or How All of Europe Almost Had Their Brains Melted) - in which the Ninth Doctor and Rose accidentally crash the Eurovision Song Contest. It's much better than it sounds, very very funny and has Terry Wogan in it. And a reference to whoisdoctorwho.co.uk, which just gets funnier every time I click on it. This week's front page is brilliantly wacky and topical.

Actually, what I said a second ago about no longer having a real life is not quite true. In every entry I make until June 30th, I am going to include an important fact that it is vital I revise. If this bothers anyone... well, let's hope it doesn't.

[Alkyl groups attached to amines are electron-releasing, causing a positive inductive effect by which the amine becomes a stronger Lewis base, as it is more likely to donate its lone pair. Conversely, benzene rings attached to primary amines have the opposite effect, attracting the electrons in the bond and weakening the base strength.]

Woodstock, yay! If you go the Northern Ireland route, I'm available to give it a local beta (unless you're from here, in which case, never mind)

*g* See, they are all yay but in different ways. Sadly I am not from Northern Ireland, I'm from Liverpool.

Maybe I could set it during Beatlemania? *dies*

Speaking of ficathon... are you going to make a posting in one of the communties where we're all post our links to?

Since I don't have the girl I write the story for on my flist, I was already wondering how I'd make her notice it. :-)

On the day of the deadline, I'll post a ficathon masterlist in my own journal and link it everywhere else, inviting all participants to comment with story links. I should have made this clear, I'm sorry.
