Notes and queries, continued

The committee ballots came in this morning. I counted them up and noted down the results; afterwards, we arranged for Sze-Kie and Rachel to meet me and Fidan after lunch. We sat them down, Fidan and I facing them, and I said, "I have something to tell you..."

"Yeah!" Fidan said decisively. "We all hate you and we want you thrown off the committee!"

I waited for a moment and said, "We got the votes in. You two are the new librarians."

I will hand over my badge, eventually, but as of this moment I am no longer librarian. This is an unexpectedly painful experience. "It's a good job," I said, after a pause. "You have to keep on top of things..."

"...and write the rota. I write the rota," Fidan said, "while Iona sits here and acts all knowledgable."

That's my job, all right. Fidan does the rota - she's done this term's in Greek, for reasons best known to herself - and once they've translated that, their job begins.

I am a little depressed over this.

In other news! I am being a Force For Education within the fandom! In fielding the ficathon, I have explained patiently what betas do, how LJ ficathons work, what ship is, what slash is, in short, How One Writes Fanfiction - and for the first time in my four-year fandom stint, I feel experienced.

And con on Friday! Yay, excitement. I'm getting food tonight.
