Yes, I am lame.
Feb. 2nd, 2005 01:13 pmSo, I got back from London fairly unscathed, though my UCL interview was intimidating in the extreme. So much so I decided the only way to restore my inner peace was to buy jeans. They're nice jeans. They have a rainbow lining. And a purple top, as well, because I liked it. I now have no money but oh, well. I also consumed far too much junk food, but shush, I'm allowed. The size eight jeans are dropping off me.
Today, I had to drag myself out of bed, go to school and be on chocolate cake duty. Yes, my life is hard. The cake that did not appear for last week's committee meeting was entrusted to me to slice up for everyone. Now, a maths problem - sixteen committee members and two chocolate Swiss rolls. How would you divide them?
My sleep-deprived brain just couldn't process, and in the end Fidan took the knife and sliced expertly - each roll in half, in half again, and in half again. Distribution followed. I flatter myself I'm a good committee chairperson, but really, not all the time. I've decided the library needs its own knife, but when I took one of the sixth form ones there was mould unknown to science growing on it, so sterilisation will probably be necessary before I can do anything about it.
Also library-related (it's Wednesday, bear with me while I get all of this somewhere I'll remember it) is this new competition called the Sefton Super Read Something Something, for first-years only. They have to each read six books over the next two months, review and choose their favourites. And I have to supervise. Fidan claimed none of them would turn up. In the end about eight of them did, which is quite enough. I'm actually quite tempted to read one of the books myself - it's called Ruby Tanya (Robert Swindells), and the blurb makes it sound good. It can go on the list.
When I'd finished with that library meeting, I walked across to where the mini-Scoobies were camped out (literally - Cath dislocated her knee in a moshpit(!)) and was met with a confused but nothing less than enthusiastic chorus of "Space monkey!" Tonight's Stargate episode is The Serpent's Lair. I wasn't planning to watch it, but it looks like I'm going to have to. Heh.
Talking of which, more Pegasus B fic (I can't be bothered to crosspost). In which PegB!Daniel is a flake, canon!Daniel is a bitch and Sam is confused. It's silly. I wondered about it, but I don't think I'm going to upload either of the Pegasus fics to Sleeping With Ghosts before the remix challenge, because technically they count as co-written stories.
This is all very trivial.
I ought to work.
Blah. I seem to have lost the thread of this entry here.
Okay, this is me writing about something else. I have just discovered that if you click a scroll wheel on a page that has a horizontal scroll bar, you can move diagonally.
Wow.
