Last time I wrote, Kerry hadn't conceded. I would now like to say a few things. The right-wing media is carping about bloggers, I'll give them something to fucking carp about. Firstly, there are sixty-seven people on my friends list, and none of them were Bush voters. Admittedly, some are quiet about their allegiance and others are, like me, not American, but the point stands. For that, I am grateful.

Secondly, I want desperately now to get hold of all you Americans and bring you here to this country, which is not perfect in any way at all, but does have a formerly socialist party in government, and no electoral college system. I spoke to amchau and then (truncatedly, aargh) to purplerainbow, and groaned. Watched the news in despair as Dubya's smugly smiling face loomed into view. You fifty-eight million Republican voters - you deserve everything you get. Fuck you and your "national safety" - now the Lord God Bush is safe in the White House, you can live safe from the terrorists and sodomites.

Thirdly, I don't think I'm the only one feeling a little childish about this. Bush has won, and what's going to become of us now?

I wish Canada would come and take over New England and New York. I'd be happy to be Canadian. We're close enough, we wouldn't put up a fight, and hey! legalized gay marriage *and* marijuana. I win.

I don't think it's childish at all, especially not when the polls were so damned close. We all allowed frustration and worry and the freedom to *stabity stab* the media. What were the media saying, btw? I've tried to avoid them if i can, i hate elections, after the mess they made of the last one.

I still can't quite believe that he's won. I'm just consoling myself with the idea that he has to clear up his own mess - job losses, Iraq, the deficit, the war against trrrrrrrrrism...
