raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (wish I could stay)

Have discovered I will be away when they show The Gift. Boo! More than anything, I didn't want to miss Spike and Giles having their wonderful, beyond wonderful Band-of-Brothers moment.

Although I watch a lot of cult television and read a lot of cult books, I don't, as a general thing, engage in that eternal pastime of the fan, to whit, theorising. And I must say that theorising for Buffy is beyond stupid when the show ended two years ago and everyone knows what happens except me.

But, but but but, this just struck me as too good not to record somewhere, if only to look back at post-Chosen and think, how young was I then.

Anyway. Have just watched the season seven episode where Giles returns to Sunnydale, Bring On The Night. Ignoring the instinctual "squee!" response that this engenders, I am moved to consider the following points:

1. Giles is back.

2. This is good.

3. However, implausible. Two episodes ago, in Sleeper, he got whacked to death with an axe.

4.Admittedly, the episode fades out on the moment the blade hits his neck, but still, pretty unequivocal. And we've seen that when you get killed by a Bringer of the First, you stay dead.

5. Still, Giles is back.

6. The First Evil is also back. This is bad. This is bad because it's been taking the form of people who are dead and manipulating their still living loved ones.

7. These forms look human, but are dead and actually non-corporeal.

8. Giles actually states this.

9. In an episode in which he does not appear to touch anyone or anything, including Buffy, and seems given to staring off into space.

10. In short, he is slightly out of it.

11. And this can be explained very simply by the theory that he is dead, and has been replaced by the First pretending to be him.

Thank you, thank you. I should stop watching DVDs now.

*blinks* For a second, I thought you meant there was some sort of crossover thing going on there.

How exciting would that be?

*pictures it* *giggles* Oh, dear me. I wonder, if you multiply one incredibly slashy show-

WILLOW: Tara, baby? Is there somewhere you should be? It's the big day, right? Do you want to go?

TARA: (to Giles) You're a killer. This is all set down... (wanders out)

BUFFY: Stay close but don't crowd her. We'll follow in a minute. Everybody knows their jobs. Remember, the ritual starts, we all die. And I'll kill anyone who comes near Dawn. (exits)

SPIKE: Well, not exactly the St. Crispin's Day speech, was it?

GILES: (picks up axe, stares at Spike) We few...we happy few...

SPIKE: We band of buggered.

Exeunt

-with another incredibly slashy show, do you get slash times two? Slash squared?

Heh. I am still a little peeved that there is no sign of BoB on British telly. The moment there is, I shall be there with popcorn.

You'll need to add my new journal so that we can keep in touch. It's literally friends only (only people I consider friends personally are allowed to see the posts). IF you don't know what's going on, look at September 20th and the intro posts. Thanks!
