I just rediscovered my faith in human nature. I had physiotherapy this afternoon, left school at half two, walked all the way to the place from Formby station, and submitted to a great deal of pain. It's supposed to help in the long run, but I invariably come out feeling like I'll never walk again. My mother was supposed to give me a lift home, but she forgot about me, so I rang up in a huff and while I was waiting for her, went to the newsagent across the road to buy some chocolate and cheer myself up. About half an hour later, cold and wet half an hour, my mother turned up. I went with her, and eventually got home.

So far, so hoopy.

Just now, the doorbell rang and a woman with a large Mercedes asked to be let in. By the time I got downstairs to see who it was, she'd gone. My mother looked at me oddly and said, "Did you even know you'd lost it?"

"It" being my red leather Pucca purse. I left my purse in the shop. I can't believe I was so stupid. It has everything in it - all my money, my cash card, swipe card (worth twenty quid by itself), Trio (worth a hundred), a photograph or two - everything. And this nice lady, who didn't even want to leave her name, brought it back with everything intact. She must have got the address off the back of the Trio. I can't believe it.

My mother thinks this is karmic payback. I did this once for a man who'd lost his mobile - took the numbers off it and rang him to let him know I'd found it, and he turned up later that night with much gratitude and a large box of Roses - and she thinks this is because of that. I don't know, but I'm grateful. There are nice people left in the world!

And I need to take better care.

That's wonderful how you got your purse back. :) I'm so glad there are still some decent people in the world.

Not so wonderful about the painful physiotherapy, though. I hope in the long run it will be beneficial.

Wow, that's so nice! I'm glad you posted about this, I was sort of forgetting that nice humans existed, outside of a small bunch of people I know. :)

The bad news is yeah...physiotherapy helps in the long run but in the meantime it hurts like hell. Eventually you'll get to the point where you don't feel so much pain and then the evil physiotherapist will accelerate the therapy to the next level of torture ;)

Yes, there are still nice people in the world. I've noticed that every time I get so I think humanity should just pull that giant flush handle and be done with it someone shows up with an unwarranted act of kindness. My neighbors, for instance. No one knew anyone before the hurricane. Now we all help each other out.

BTW, I have your chocolate now but I can't send it until I have your full name and address. Something is wrong with what I have (aside from last name missing) and the stupid US post won't send it otherwise.

I'm glad it turned up! (Are you going to call me tonight? I'm about ready for another dose of sanity-inducing conversation.)

I'm guessing not at this stage. I'm going to watch the West Wing on C4. Tomorrow?

This has made me happy for the day and warrants the use of my pretty-boy icon.

What a lovely, lovely person ^_^.

And ditto on you for the mobile. *smoochies*
