Why do I always miss everything of importance?
Enough about me. This is not about me. Clare and Colleen gathered the other resident lunatics together yesterday to announce to the world that they’re a couple. Hannah wibbled about not telling anyone and then immediately texted me. Dadu must have thought I’d lost my mind when I picked up the phone and started yelling. I rang back and howled. “Why didn’t you tell me?” – and so on. Obviously I eventually melted into a gooey heap of all-is-well-with-the-world-ness.
I can’t say I’m surprised. No, really – even before the off-screen goings-on at the Blue Moon party, the thought had crossed my mind. Actually, no – not like that. But I always wondered at the fact Clare and Colleen have always got on very well, which I found strange. I’ve known Clare a long time, eleven years or thereabouts (quite possibly longer – my mother later discovered we’d been at pre-school together!) and would consider I know her as well as just about any other person alive. She doesn’t like new people and strangers. At SG-5, I explained I had this friend whom I’d quite like her to meet, and she was understandably reticent about it.
But they hit it off. And other times in the years following, I’ve always liked the fact they were friends. So, in times to come, when I am judged and asked what did I do with my life, I can say I introduced my best friend to her girlfriend. And they were sweet together. Because, really – awwww. I’m so happy they’re happy. May we all be happy.
In honour of the occasion, I have updated The Colleen Show website, along with an LJ community,

on 2004-09-01 02:29 am (UTC)Tell you what - wanna meet up in town Saturday lunchtime? Complete with whichever Resident Lunatics are interested? And then trail around the shops and eat at Subway and possibly come back to mine?
(I'm not good at the planning thing, can you tell?)
