I present to you all a question. Why do we all watch Jonathan Creek? I mean, it's not sci-fi. No aliens, no Enterprise, no snakes-in-the-head. It's not a sitcom. No nutty army doctors or crazed dead holograms or beautiful people. Neither is it a period drama with Emma Thompson. Nobody jumps into lakes while wearing white shirts and a stern expression.

It's a weird murder-mystery programme about a magician's assistant with shades of the surreal about him.

And it has Alan Davies. In fact, that may be the reason right there. Everyone watches it. Everyone has seen "the one with the nuclear bunker!" and "ohmygod, the one where she gets cut in half lengthways!" and as of last week, "the midget bodyguard got eaten by the python!"

Although I have to admit, it was more fun when Caroline Quentin was still in it. Am I the only person who ever saw the episode where Jonathan and Maddy decide to finally sleep together? The results were bloody hilarious. Actually, so was tonight's episode. Adam Klaus decides he wants to be crucified. Complete piss-take of David Blaine. I was sitting there in fits of laughter while my grandmother watched on it quiet bemusement.

I have reached a conclusion.

I watch too much television.

I love Jonathon Creek. We always watch it in my house and my sister calls Jonathon 'Creeky-boy'. She's odd like that.

I did see the one where Jonathon and Maddy decided to sleep together, and I too thought it was funnier when Caroline Quentin was in it. My favurite was the one with the alien that vanished because it was the only one I ever got before the end.

*grins* That was a good one. I didn't get it, though; the whole mercury thing taxed my brain.

See, though, my point's being proved - everyone watches it! Everyone!

There's just something so reassuringly *British* about it; you know the plots are (a) ridiculous and (b) beside the point, but it's got that quirky world view - and takes the piss out of people like Blaine. Plus it's on Saturday nights, when the will to resist is weak. I agree about Caroline Quentin (and I saw that episode!) - it's weird how little on-screen chemistry there is between Alan and Julia when rumour has it they are an off-screen item.

There's definitely something to be said for that. Yeah, it's similar to the general lunacy in Blackadder and the way everyone is forgiving when the sets start falling apart in Red Dwarf. It's British, that's how it's supposed to be.

See, I know what you mean. And I really shouldn't, but I do. Even though I think I've only seen one episode. We all just love him. x

Nope. I remember that, I loved that episode. For some reason there was an episode involving a lot of nettles around there. They weren't part of the storyline, but I can remember there were a lot of them around. What I want to know is why haven't we seen the windmill lately?
