I made a phone post.

I sound like I'm eight years old.

Aaaargh.

Argh.

One or two people have asked me how to listen to a phone post - this is the best method I could come up with.

1. Download a patch from this page.

2. Right-click on the phone post link, go to Properties and highlight and copy the full URL.

2. Open Windows Media Player.

3. Go to File > Open URL, and paste. Press OK.

Hopefully that should work; it's worked for me.

Argh. Why didn't anyone ever tell I sound so stupid?

I did listen, and you don't sound moronic -- or eight years old -- at all. (Of course, the latter could be because I'm not used to hearing eight-year-olds with British accents.... ;)) You sound articulate; you talk a lot faster than I would in that situation. If I ever did a phone post, it would be something like "So... as you can tell, I... have trouble speaking... extemporaneously because I have no... word recall skills... oh, what's the word -- whatsoever. No word recall skills whatsoever. Hey, my five minutes are u--" So, I was impressed by yours.

*grins* You do. Accents are strange that way. I always wonder what I sound like even to fellow Americans from other states. The idea of having an accent is simply strange.

Actually, despite my paranoia about coming off as even more of an idiot than usual, I would like nothing better than to make a phone post. The issue is... well, the same issue I have with almost any sort of Internet activity. I have no idea how to pull it off clandestinely. I don't know -- would it show up on our phone bill?

I'm not entirely sure. I think it probably would show up on your phone bill, but if you pick a number in your area, it'll show up as just another number. For what it's worth, I think it's do-able.
