raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (sam and her thoughts)

Thank god it's Friday. I decided not to go to assembly, slept through most of my morning lessons (except Chem - it seems I actually enjoy doing moralitymolarity calculations) and didn't wake up that much during lunch, either. Gemma kept on following me round with a pixellated print-out picture of Henry Ford. It's for our English presentation on Monday - Brave New World - but it has proven impossible to explain this to people who want to know why she's carrying the picture around.

I finished off my homework during this afternoon's free, so I have none for the weekend. Which is really quite surprisng. I handed it in that Politics essay in the lesson this afternoon, and wasn't set anything else. Interestingly, other people seem to be picking up the tea-and-coffee-in-lessons habit. Miss Hathaway agreed to let me and Steph up to the common room to make tea for everyone and coffee for me. Somehow, in the process, I got stepped on by Mr Evans and so refused to make him any tea; he was so disappointed we have promised to make him some next time.

On the way home from school, Becca wanted to go the Co-op to get a drink; I went with her and realised I was too late to catch the usual train, so might as well go to Coronation Road library. It's the little Crosby library, about half the size of the Civic Hall one, and Becca came with me but warned me I wouldn't find what I was looking for, whatever that was. I was looking for Reaper Man or Soul Music; didn't find either of them, and Becca was looking for something by Ben Elton, and didn't find that either. So, not a success. I'm glad we went, though, and I got home just a few minutes later than I would have done otherwise.

I'm going into Liverpool tomorrow, without Becca as she's working and besides I want to get her a birthday present. I know [livejournal.com profile] osiris13 wants to buy a coat, so she's coming with me, and may possibly bring [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow - I hope she does. So, my list:

  • birthday present for Becca. Have no idea what. She mentioned wanting Coldplay's album Parachutes, but I don't know. I've decided no jewellery this year, though, as I always get her jewellery. Interestingly, when I asked her what she wanted, she was very unhelpful and then happened to mention she already knows what she's getting me for my birthday. My birthday, as you may remember, is in January.
  • a new file. A lever arch one, methinks, as the red Dougal ringbinder is utterly fubared. Pedar is against the idea of putting all my eggs into one basket (I told him not to speak proverbially at that hour of the morning) but I think I might just do that, put all my subjects into one file. Might be easier.
  • CDs to record on. I now have a CD-writer! Never had one before, and didn't think I needed one with my mp3 player, but Pedar thought it would be a good idea. So, there you go.
  • something from Quiggins for me. I have a bit of money, for once, and I'd like one of those double-sleeved tops from Grin.
  • possibly a present for [livejournal.com profile] shipperkitten's birthday. She won't be coming with us tomorrow because she's gone to a family funeral in Edinburgh. I asked her what she wanted, she said, "pretty, useful, and not a Christmas bauble." I'd forgotten about the infamous Christmas bauble. In Hannah's defence, it was a very big Christmas bauble. About four times the size of a normal one. But the fact does remain that there are only so many things you can do with it.
  • a sandwich. Self-explanatory.

I ought to ring Clare later, in actual fact. Maybe Hannah too.
