I just searched Google for "glitterfic." The results were.... um... well. See for yourself.

The day has been mostly weird, in other news. I have now been exhausted for three straight days, and I'm tired of being tired. I slept through until eight o'clock this morning, but I still managed to miss my dental appointment because of unavoidable unconsciousness. Eugh.

Dadi being here is the other reason the day is weird. I can speak a bit of Hindi, which makes everything worse, because as I can speak it, I'm expected to try. It would be almost better not being able to say a word than having to wade through tortured non-grammar and spluttering non-sequiters while all the time feeling like my hands are tied behind my back. I wouldn't like my grandmother to think her eldest child's only child is completely sub-moronic, but that's what it looks like. I mean, yesterday, we were watching television, and Dadi turned to me and asked me a perfectly reasonable question, which I understood just as perfectly.

"Why is that man wearing a dress?"

Imagine, if you will, the ten minutes that followed, my attempts to translate such words as "desertion" and "section eight" and "army hospital." After some effort, I just gave up and let my mother handle it, which she did with some aplomb. She managed to explain the whole concept without a problem, and I understood her explanation word-for-word. It's verbalisation that causes me actual physical pain.

Ah, well. What the hell. Other things have happened. Good things. Becca and Hannah and I have a plan for next week, to meet up and talk, because heaven knows we don't do enough of that. And Emma's going to be there at the barbecue at Saturday, I've just found out, although I don't know if she still reads this.

I should call Becca later, just to talk, I think. The latest piece of news she's sent in my direction is that Mr Dunne is leaving. No-one seems to know why, except of course it's no secret that the school will hardly be devastated.

Oh, yes... on my way to the dentist this morning, I met Helen, and we talked for a while. I noticed her bump was looking bigger than when I last saw her, but I didn't think anything further. Only just now, Pedar got home to say he'd done a Caesarean this afternoon. It seems Rebecca and Laura now have a brother - William, who weighs five pounds ten ounces and has now been in this world for a whole three hours. I was just saying, poor kid. He's going to grow up with two older sisters who are a year and two years older than him.

This entry was supposed to have something else in it, but I can't remember what as I'm retyping it. Seeing as my computer ate it. For a last random factoid, then, this is such a beautiful song. I love the Goo Goo Dolls.
