Last night, we had to go to a graduation party. Graduation from what, I asked, and was told "high school." The party turned out to be in some place quite far off, being thrown by family friends who were obviously quite well-off, judging by the size of their house. Anyway, the guy graduating turned out to be an eighteen-year-old pretty boy, who'd been to England two months ago. He caught my accent, saw me inspecting a Perrier bottle as thought expecting it to be something else, and then he made some comment about the tendencies towards getting pissed exhibited by your average British teenager. I informed him that in Britain there are no laws about underage drinking, only underage buying-of-alcohol. We got to talking, and I think it was out there, in the darkness and the quiet and the glow of the candles, that I started, subtly, indefinably, to enjoy myself.
My stuff arrived yesterday night, as well. I'm wearing my own clothes, my own spiked earrings, my "dangerous mind" bracelet, my own perfume, and feel completely comfortable for the first time since I left home. As well as that, I got an invitation to the Last Supper, Becca and Bev's "rat-arse-ism, otherwise known as a shit-fest, but NOT a house party." I can't wait for that. August 21st, natch.
And I have decided what letters to put on the next bracelet I make. At the moment, I have "dangerous mind", "slashy happy people", "blamhe Hawkeye" and I made "make smut not war" for
lilka. Well, the next one will be "loupe-garou." Make of it what you will.
I remain, as ever, a fangirl; just a fangirl in exile tis all.

How old do you have to be to buy alcohol in England? In the US, it's absurdly high. I can never quite grok the fact that you can join the army and vote before you're allowed to drink.
