Various things
May. 29th, 2003 08:56 pmMy mother is making me tape Astitva - the uberdramatic Hindi serial she's currently watching. I'm beginning to wonder how on earth they'll ever resolve this, because Hindi serials are not soaps - they're "dramas" with a definite end at some point. Anyway, my mother especially wanted to see tonight's episode because, get this, one of the main characters killed herself yesterday. Uber-angsty (read much wailing, tearing of clothes and beating of breasts) and therefore she must see it, and therefore I must tape it as she's gone out tonight to an ODA meeting. Much joy.
She was a little doubtful about the ODA meeting, but she doesn't mind them, as she is a doctor. She was telling me about last time - apparently they had a lecture about proctology (followed by dinner and dessert, natch) which involved a Powerpoint presentation. With pictures. Oy vey. She said (and she was giggling by this point) that the last slide was left on the projector while they ate, and showed nothing more or less than a vagina. The doctors, desensitised as they are, didn't find this odd - it was their wives and husbands who thought so. Only my mother, as a doctor herself, saw both sides of the joke.
And in the middle of all this, I've been sitting quietly at home dans ma tete. Been reading more fic (the angst! oh, the angst!) and thinking about eating. I forgot to eat lunch today. Oops.
Anyway, I may even write later on. All this fic-reading may just have me inspired.
