raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (girl in blue)

I hate getting up in the morning and discovering my inbox is completely empty. I also hate getting up in the morning and suddenly feeling paranoid about my onlinw stuff. Therefore, I have cleared cookies and changed passwords like a maniac, and hopefully no-one'll hack me. Once was enough.

Last night, I went into the library and had a look at all my old books. "Old" is probably the wrong word to use, because none of them are too aged, and there's a lot of good ones there. I've probably read all of them, or at least tried to read all of them. I do give up if I haven't been hooked within the first hundred pages. But last night I got to thinking that I was quite a few years younger when I last tried to read some of those books, and maybe it might be a good idea to try again. I considered reading The Last of the Mohicans, as it is supposed to be a good book, but the writing style is so dense and inpenetrable that I really, really have to concentrate when reading it. Therefore, I'm keeping it for after the exams, I think. Instead, I grabbed any book from the "read more than ten times" shelf and went to bed.

The book turned out to be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which has always been my favourite of the books, probably because it has Remus Lupin in it. He's my favourite character - I have no idea why - but I later discovered, reading some interview or other, that he's JK Rowling's favourite character as well.

When I was first reading the Harry Potter books, I loved them. For a long time, no-one had a clue what I was on about, but by the time the third and fourth books had come out, and I'd gone to Pritchard's that very day to get hold of them, most people got the message. But then, there's been years since the last one came out, and I have t say, I really didn't like the first film and for several reasons, I couldn't see the second one. Then there came all the merchandising and marketing and whatever, and that really put me off, because it was all so... ugh.

But last night, re-reading that book, the one thing that kept going through my head was this is good. This is really good.. And it really is. Despite all the crap surrounding it, the books are still wonderfully intricate and so smoothly written. I can't wait for the next one - one month to go, I think. Yay.

Coming back to matters close at hand - this morning, I need to wash my hair, possibly go to the hairdresser's and get it trimmed because it's starting to resemble a hedgehog underneath, and annoying me, and I need to revise Biology, and download some more songs by Placebo, the Goo Goo Dolls and OK Go. Which will mean moving the modem. Sigh.

This afternoon, 4.35 at the Plaza in Crosby, Enid, Hannah, anyone who wants to come - The Matrix Reloaded. Should be fun.
