The Altered Mental States Ficathon
Aug. 2nd, 2007 08:22 pmI'm trying my best to keep up with comments on my previous post - thanks for all your input.
But. In the meantime, I'n finally ready to open this up!
“I am but mad north-north-west; when the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a handsaw.”
Hamlet, Act II, Scene ii

The Altered Mental States Ficathon. Because it was good enough for Shakespeare, so it’s good enough for us.
Inspired by the glorious theatrical madness of Slings & Arrows’ Geoffrey Tennant, but it’s true: altered mental states are everywhere in fandom. You’ve got Daniel Jackson in the padded room, Fox Mulder’s single-minded, spiralling obsession, Josh Lyman’sfear of rectangles PTSD; you’ve got Buffy waking up in “Normal Again”, Hawkeye’s nightmares in M*A*S*H; you’ve got the Doctor with the silence in his head and the Master with the sound of drums in his. This ficathon is designed to explore this narrative trope in as many forms and fandoms as possible.
Take me to the rules and sign-ups!
And for the record,
likethesun2 and
absinthe_shadow are as GODS.
