raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (girl!Doctor - the oncoming storm)
I'm having a silly sort of day. Firstly, my Minor Characters ficathon story - I was horribly late starting it, which I do admit, but I thought I'd finished it last night. In the cold light of day, yesterday's story has decided it wants to be part one of four. I loathe my brain sometimes. Anyway, I have written parts one and two, and most of four, and am now struggling over three. It's all rather ridiculous.

Then at lunchtime, after I had sworn at the fic for most of the morning, [livejournal.com profile] hathy_col appeared and said, let's go out for lunch. So we did, and I shall miss these afternoons very much. We went to a pub-cum-carvery in Ainsdale and Colleen ate Yorkshire pudding (among other things) and I ate cranberry sauce (among not many other things) and we chatted, which gradually developed in my admitting that, well I will end up living alone and die and be eaten by Alsatians.

"You're a strong, independent woman," Colleen soothed, and her eyes lit up. "With a cat!"

...groan.

I think I am going to spend the rest of my silly day watching Red Dwarf. It seems the sensible thing to do.

Edit: I don't know if anyone remembers it, but my first piece of Doctor Who fic was a short piece called Flowers For The Doctor, which explores what happens to the Doctor during the eighteen seconds in Rose, but also if Rose hadn't gone with the Doctor. AU-type malarkey. Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] tenebraeli has written a sort of sequel called The Child That Time Didn't Forget, that I absolutely adored. Consider it today's drive-by rec.
