raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (teh evil!11!)
This doesn't count as an update, as it's results day and I've got to make resit decisions. This entry wil consist of me talking to myself. To begin with, I only had two:

Biology - 86/90
Chemistry - 73/90

The Biology's fine, I don't mind that. Could have been better, but never mind that. Chemistry. Sigh. I actually like the subject, so it peeves me that I am so consistently bad at it. It is an A - just. The grade boundary is 72, which is cutting it far too fine in my opinion. Anyway, I went to see the gestalt entity known as ColvinandMiller - actually, that's now Millerrrrr with four Rs. Fidan got her to sponsor her doing kumite and she's written her name on the sponsorship form as Mrs Millerrrrr, so the nickname's sticking.

Yes, anyway - they think my resitting it is ill-advised, no matter how low the raw score, because last year I accumulated quite a few spare marks - forty-five, I think - that I can now drop with impunity. And I'm going to do that, because if I've done this badly on module four, I'll just do worse on five and six. Six being synoptic, of course, but even five has "synoptic elements", which I really Don't Get.

So no Chemistry resits for me, and probably no Biology ones either. My module marks for that are maddeningly inconsistent - last year's first two weren't bad, but the third was 99/120, embarrassingly - but none looks like it'll be worth getting the additional marks for.

So. This now brings my total of exams to sit down to nine, excluding General Studies - that's two Chemistry, two Biology, two English (coursework counts as entire module, thank fates for that) and three Politics, which I would say will kill me, but I only dropped three marks last year and may yet survive Representative Democracy if not The Politics of the United States of America. General Studies may mean another five exams, but I plan to fail them with a vengeance and watch Oxford not care.

Hannah called me just as I was sitting in the lab before Chemistry, and when I saw who was calling I told Mrs Colvin it was my mum(!) and ran out to talk to her. They hadn't got their results by then, but Colleen had (yayyaypoliticsgenius) and I think I'll call Hannah again now. I bought Innocent smoothies this afternoon. Plural - for some reason it was cheaper to buy two than one - because, well, exam results. Any excuse, really. I went back into the lab to hear the story of how Mrs Colvin is in trouble with the head. It's because - and no, I am not making this up - she'd been smuggling isocyanide (sp?) into the lab to do the exploding polyurethane practical. Said practical is now banned by Health and Safety (but sugar in conc sulphuric isn't?) and the head is apparently foaming at the mouth. I am amused.

Said woman is being rather anal-retentive about tomorrow and her letter says "do not wear your red accessory into school." That is her concession to Comic Relief. Wear a red accessory. She's a bit miserable, she is. I plan to ignore her and wear red Doc Martens and find red hair spray. I don't have a nose, unfortunately. Fidan is doing sponsored Red Nose Day kumite. This is apparently a form of karate that will involve her sustaining injury in the name of charity. I gave her a pound. It seemed fair.

Anyway. Should find bits and pieces for tomorrow, do homework, blah, blah.
