Cambridge

raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (pretty daniel)
What is this, melt Raven into simpering heap day?!
Admittedly yesterday's wasn't exactly a chick flick. But Pretty Woman definitely was.
The film was fun. Surprsingly, the whole day was fun. I didn't want to go into town with my parents, didn't didn't didn't, but strangely...
Pedar bought The Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen Hawking, and we fought over it whilst perching on an escalator, whilst mother bought size 22 (no, really) dresses for my grandmother, and then when we got out of there, we found the market on Liverpool's Lord Street, which I think was the same one that was up at Chavasse that time, the continental one, only bigger. We bought cookies, and picked up Pedar from Waterstone's, and got out of the city.
We had a picnic, and my parents weren't fighting at all, rather doing all the little things they think I don't notice, and to be honest, I don't give a damn. I'm just happy they've forgotten whatever they were arguing about, and there's two glasses of wine on the coffee table, just as there should be.
The picnic involved sandwiches and strawberries, and I said it reminded me of Cambridge, which worried Pedar slightly. He said, "You remember Cambridge?!" like it was something he's never expected, but it's true. I do remember it. It was a quiet and beautiful, and we lived in a pretty flat, and there was a woman there who said to me, "You're a Bonn baby!"
I said, yes I was, but I wasn't a baby and she wasn't to call me that. I was a precocious little brat. I guess my education was just fucked up until I was about eight.
But I loved Cambridge, and as I haven't been there since we left, I think it's true I remember how pretty it was. I even remember being told it was a university town, and that was why it was the way it was. Kinda like Lurven - I loved that place just as much. It was another university town, and we had another pretty flat, but the problem was the thunder and the lightning, which scared me. But after we left Lurven, we moved on to Brussels and Paris, and I don't remember them as well. I just remember loving Europe in general.
