raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (somebody stop)
[personal profile] raven
Was sitting in History this morning - guess who was the only person who knew the dates of the Korean war? - and something occurred to me. It was, oddly enough, something related to Stargate fandom. So... to all the people who are/were in it, I was thinking about In the Line of Duty, one of my favourite episodes, incidentally, and more specifically, the bit very near the end where the Ashrak finally storms in. He comes up the ramp, Daniel has a brief flashback to the hospital, and then he grabs Daniel and puts a gun to his head. We cut to Sam/Jolinar, who are both dying, then back, to Teal'c storming in - "I am sorry, Daniel Jackson," - and then he whips out a zat and shoots Daniel. I'm sure all this is right. What seems wrong to me is the fact Daniel stays conscious. The zats go stun, kill, disintegrate, so he should have been knocked out for the count. And yet, he isn't. I will admit that in staying conscious, he delivers one of the best-timed lines ever - "Teal'c. Never do that again." - but seeing as he must get hit by a zat at least thirty times in the course of the series, and he passes out each time, continuity glitch there.
[And yes, this did occur to me randomly while I was sitting in History]
The only thing I could think of was the energy was absorbed by two bodies, not one - Daniel and the Ashrak, both of them - but it has amused me to write all this down.

Aside from the fangirlieness. Um... the make-up person came in today to meet the Drama group. She was decidedly unimpressive - "That's what you do, like," - and I'm not looking forward to Thursday particularly. I wear hardly any make-up myself, and I have to make Yusra up as one of the fairies from a Midsummer Night's Dream. I don't know why, but I've picked Moth. The name just sounds mysterious and dark... I would love to make her up in a gothy fashion, but it wouldn't really work - her skin is olive and suits warm tones. Apparently. I know nothing about this stuff.

And that is all. Except... Mrs Custard found out I'm not doing Physics A-level any more. I'm now doing Biology. She asked me why, and I said I was tired, and she said it was sad. She also apparently went and told Mrs Moon to find out whether it was what I really wanted. I want to change back. I do. But I want a lot of things, and...
Huh. No, it was not a bad day. I am just being maudlin. Will go and eat a muffin now.

Point very well taken. I guess if overwhelming pain was involved, not only would that be very characteristic of Daniel, it would explain the twitching.
I should watch the episode again.
