_detroit. Although, at the time, she was sprog. And she had a code for me which xtremeriotgrrl used, who then gave me her code. I gave mine to eniddy, who is now cucharita. Loz doesn't use LJ anymore, but Enid and I have progressed into addiction and now both have paid accounts. It's all very complicated.

Biggest pet peeve about LJ?

Probably the flamewars. I also don't like friends-only journals that are friends-only for no reason. Obviously it makes sense if you've had trouble, or you expect to have trouble, or you're talking about something you really don't want everyone to know. But so many journals that are friends-only are just full of teenybopper quiz results and other crap like "OMG mi layout fukin rox0rs!"

My fandom crap is friends-locked because I am mildly ashamed of it (yes, I'm working on that. I'm getting better, really) and the LJ is linked to on my domain and THAT is on my resume. My random babble about life is not friends-locked because who really cares? Deeply personal stuff is locked, because there are people Out There who have me friended that I do not, I repeat, do NOT want seeing it.

It's a bit complex, but it all comes down to them not getting When A Friendship Is Over. I don't actually hate them. I just don't want to have anything to do with them. And I don't care to give them any ammo. So. Yeah. Friends-only makes sense only for stuff that might come back and bite you in the ass. Quiz results and layout crap are, ALAS, not one of those things. (Though if they were, would the quality of LJ content be higher?)

I know where you're coming from, incidentally, because as you can no doubt see from this meme I have a lot of my real life friends reading my LJ. I make use of filters quite a lot...

My journal is friend only because I'm justifiably paranoid. I had computers first quarter at school, and I used to check LJ all the time from there. The computer allowed me to clear the Temporary Internet Files, so there wasn't a problem with me getting caught.

Well, that class ended and I didn't check LJ from school for a month or two. One day in History, we went to the computer lab. I decided to check LJ, and about a minute before the bell rang, I went to clear the Temp. Files.

'This Option Has Been Locked By Your System Administrator.'

And the bell rang.

Those computers were eventually replaced, and I have gotten a new journal since then, but still...the incident has scarred me.
