Flagstones

It feels like summer. At lunch, for some reason, Emma and Becca and Enid and me decided to sit on the flagstones outside ML4. This was surprisingly fun. Bryanny Olive came up and asked, in all seriousness, "Iona, do you still write fanfiction?"
"Yes."
"Can I read some?"
Cue sniggering from
_detroit and
cucharita. "Don't," Enid stated.
"Will I not understand it?" -Bryanny.
"I don't," Becca said, honestly.
"It's guy-on-guy se-"
[Mr Dunne wandered by]
"-ex!"
Much giggling.
"Sex?" Bryanny really looked scared. I was on my feet and defensive. "Enid, I don't do that!"
"Yes, you do," - Emma.
Much back-and-forth argument, and altogether-too-open discussion of the Shameless Porn Week. Have decided to give Bryanny a copy of "Scent." If that doesn't scare her off permanently, nothing will. At some point she got bored and drifted off, leaving the four of us - "We look like homeless people!" - on the flagstones, two metres away from a patch of grass, under a celestial blue dome.
The sun is low in the sky, but it feels like summer. Later, I was going to the library, and decided not to go the inside way but to cross the quad. Blue skies from horizon to horizon, and the air smelled of mown grass and cherry blossom. The sixth formers were painting scenery outside and there were people basking in the sunlight on the grass. In the midst of this summer rapture, I met
cucharita. We exchanged words and parted, and after me, she shouted, "Where are you going?"
"Library!" I yelled back, and pirouetted. I was in that good a mood.
Of course, the good weather will disappear like a dream in the night come tomorrow... but for now...
...la vita e bella.
"Yes."
