Reproductive endocrinology
Feb. 19th, 2003 05:48 pmMy careers interview went quite well, considering. Actually, more than well. I'd never exchanged more than two words with Mrs Hart before, and she's really nice, and was very helpful. I wasn't going to, but I ended up telling her about my various family vs. career problems, and she was helpful rather than dismissing everything out of hand, which I liked. No-one's done that before.
Later, I told Pedar what she'd said and he seemed to agree with most of it. We started off talking about that, but the conversation veered onto other things and we ended up talking about ADH and dopamine for some obscure reason, which led Pedar into a contemplative mood. Apparently, when he was younger, he was passionately interested in endocrinology. He loved hormones. When it came to taking his orals in med school, he was warned "You will not talk about hormones!" He thought they were beyond fascinating...
I asked why he's a gynaecologist if his passion is hormones. He said it was because he had a crush on one of his registrars. Followed her everywhere.
After listening to this story of woe, I decided ice-cream was in order. It's tiramisu Haagen-Dazs - we also have cookies 'n' cream, but no lemon cheesecake as we've run out.
And one more thing -
jessindistress has made a wonderful list of her friends, and I thought it was an amazing thing to do and I may steal the idea off her when I have more time. La fin.
