raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (fallen embers)
[personal profile] raven
Oh, God, it's cold. It's freezing, biting, sadistically cold, and it's windy as well. This was of course the day I decided to leave my hair loose. It now resembles a bramble bush. I walked home in it, which was fun in a strange way. I felt like a piece of thistledown. In a contest between me and the wind, the wind always wins, but it doesn't stop me from trying.

In the morning, it startled me to see how insignificant I am. Not one person noticed I didn't turn up for that stupid dance lesson. They've changed their music to Nirvana vs Destiny's Child, which I do like, but I'm still skiving next week.

English was next. I'd got my papers back, and got 84% for the English Language, and 69% for the Lit. Language was okay, but I was beginning to think about the other one, and everyone knows those thoughts you think to yourself. Those this must be a mistake thoughts that are answered by another voice saying you egotistical bitch other people did much worse than you but then the first voice begins to wail and then someone asks you what you got, and you smile and look happy and say it like you loved it.
But - it was a mistake. I actually got 87% for my language paper and 84% for the literature. The wrong marks were put on the wrong papers. I was pleased.

Drama, lalalala, boring, really, but what with our trying to devise a piece on a story in the anthology (Your Shoes) it gradually became more entertaining. We needed some way to show one of the characters, a bride, wasn't a virgin on her wedding day. My suggestion was for us to have her drop a single flower from her wedding bouquet. Becca thought it was too subtle. Opinions on whether it was or not are appreciated.

And two more sets of results. Chemistry, in which I got 81% and although this is an A*, I still think I ought to have revised for it. There are gaps in it that I feel I could have done without. That is of course with Mrs Williams, who is a crap Chemistry teacher as well as being such a royally annoying form teacher. She's the stingiest marker in the universe. Won't let you have "CO2" in place of "carbon dioxide" and stuff like that. Becca revised for her Chemistry purposely to annoy the woman if she did well, and she suceeded. It was a nice moment.

I still had that paper in my hands in the computer room later, when I met [livejournal.com profile] lilka, [livejournal.com profile] sexy_saba and [livejournal.com profile] kittysplitter, all of whom were very amused at Saba's attempt to give me a telepathic hug and freak me out. I flew on out of there before Gez could hug me for real.

And, lastly, one more result. Now that Mrs Wadsworth is gone, we are left with all the completely insane Classics teachers. She told us the name of her replacement, but everyone forgot it. Lucy thought his name was Mr Walla-walla. Becca thought it was Mr Winterbottom. I thought it was Mr Holocaust.
I think I won, as his name was Mr Hollinghurst. He's tall and old and boring. Really boring. He didn't even notice I was reading under the desk. I got sixty pages into the next Alanna book (by Tamora Pierce) - [livejournal.com profile] lilka gave me the next three books this afternoon. I'm looking forward to reading them all.

For the first Classics paper, I got 91%. Yay.

And nothing else has happened, unless you count the fact Mrs Colvin gave me the message for the quiz this year. The team is me, [livejournal.com profile] lilka, and two younger girls whom I don't know. It's odd, as I was told last year I couldn't be in the team this year, but oh, well. The quiz is on February 5th. I should remember it.
